“People acting together as a group can accomplish things which no individual acting alone could ever hope to bring about.” –Franklin Roosevelt The Kent Island Elementary School and Bayside Elementary School PTA associations present… 1st Annual Jingle Bell 5K and One Mile Candy Cane Color Run December 12, 2015 @ the KIES/BES Campus We cordially invite you to participate as a Sponsor of the 1st annual Jingle Bell 5K and One Mile Candy Cane Color Run at Kent Island Elementary School and Bayside Elementary School. This event will raise money to provide quality cultural arts programs in both schools. The Arts are an essential part of public education. From dance and music to theatre and the visual arts, the arts give children a unique means of expression, capturing their passions and emotions, and allowing them to explore new ideas, subject matter, and cultures. They bring us joy in every aspect of our lives. Arts education not only enhances students' understanding of the world around them, but it also broadens their perspective on traditional academics. The arts give us the creativity to express ourselves, while challenging our intellect. The arts integrate life and learning for all students and are integral in the development of the whole person. The Arts communicate and speak to us in ways that teach literacy and enhance our lives. Please consider sponsoring our 5K and one mile color run event to support cultural arts programs for our elementary students. The 5k and one mile color run event will be held on December 12, 2015 @ the KIES/BES Campus. The event will kick off at 9:00 a.m. with the One Mile Candy Cane Color Run. The Jingle Bell 5k Run/Walk will start at 9:30 a.m. Awards will be given for top qualifiers of the 5K and ribbons will be given to all of the Candy Cane Color Run participants. Your sponsorship will provide cultural arts programs in both of the schools. We have recently lost many grants that in the past have provided high quality cultural arts programs for our students. We must continue to find a place for arts programs and partnerships not only for what it teaches students about art, but for what it teaches us all about the world we live in. A description of the various levels of sponsorship for the Jingle Bell 5K/One Mile Candy Cane Color Run is on the back of this sheet.
