OHIO PUBLIC PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP (OP3)

The Ohio Department of Public Safety (ODPS) is dedicated to increasingly serve Ohioans before, during and after a disaster. As a part of this effort, Ohio Homeland Security (OHS), a division of

ODPS, is strengthening the Ohio Public Private Partnership (OP3) program, which fosters collaborative relationships between government agencies, private sector businesses, colleges, universities and service organizations.

Successful disaster preparation and response relies on strong partnerships between citizens, government and private businesses. With the involvement of OHS, the OP3 program will build prevention and protection capabilities to operate alongside existing disaster planning, response and recovery efforts. OP3 supports the sharing of critical information with OP3 partners and provides situational awareness of imminent threats on a need-to-know basis, thereby assisting members with returning to normal operations in the wake of a disaster.

Critical information is made available on demand, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to OP3 members through the Homeland Security Information Network (HSIN) and WebEOC during activation of the state Emergency Operations Center. Shared information includes access to situation reports, updates on power outages or commodity shortages, and other critical response and recovery information.

Efforts are currently underway to regionalize the OP3 program in order to increase relationships with local organizations that have interests in the surrounding community and also share common risks, hazards or emerging threats. Current OP3 members from the Greater Cincinnati area include Duke

Energy, General Electric, Cincinnati Insurance, Proctor & Gamble and Macy’s, among others.

If you have questions or would like information on OP3 membership at no cost, contact David R.

Brown at (614) 466-0332 or DRBrown@dps.ohio.gov
