Posters – Devices and Imaging NAME OF THE PROJECT NAME OF THE MAIN CONTACT ORGANISATION NAME Technology Customers / Target market APIOS Catherine PICART LMGP – Grenoble INP We have developed a biopolymer based film including growth factors enabling osteo-induction and bone regrowth, especially in cases of severe bone defaults. Our technology : - enables strong and fast bone growth with low BMP doses (cost-effective) - can be potentially applied to any type of implants (ceramics/polymers/metals of any shape/geometry/surface texture) - enables precise control of BMP doses - reduces patient pain and the need of revision surgery - can be used with implantable biomaterials already used by surgeons. - clinicians working on bone repair (orthopedics, spine, maxilla-facial, dentistry) - veterinarian (repair of severe bone fractures/sefects in animals) - industrial company in the field of orthopedic/maxilla-facial/dental implants with products made in polymers, metals or ceramics - industrial company in the field of pharmaceutics (growth factors production, bone morphogenetic family of proteins Industry and competitors - thin surface coatings made of ceramics (hydroxyapaptite/tricalcium phosphates) (already commercial products but difficulty in precisely controlling the thickness of the coating and adhesion to the implant surface) - surface coatings made of biopolymers (other groups working in the USA, in Netherlands) – direct competition (at the research /pre-clinical trials stage) The technology has been maturing for seven years in the lab and has been validated by several pre-clinical studies in small animals (mice, rats). Industrial partners are now essential to bring this technology to market. Financing need / Commercial opportunity We are looking for contacts & partners in different application domains of our technology : - Orthopaedic/maxilla-facial / dental implants & implant manufacturers - Compatible with additive manufacturing processes For veterinary/ human health applications / personalized medicine IP – Patent situation Future steps / Milestones WO2005052035 - Methods for preparing crosslinked polyelectrolyte multilayer films WO2010081884 - Process for preparing a surface coated by crosslinked polyelectrolyte multilayer films as a biomimetic reservoir for proteins - pre-clinical trials in large animals to repair a critical size bone defect - refine market search in order to define clear priorities - broaden the technology to a large variety of growth factors (currently proved for BMP-2 and BMP-7, two growth factors that are approved by regulatory agencies for bone repair) - precisely establish the different steps toward a clinical trial in humans TEDX presentation by Catherine Picart (in French) Further reading https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gk7X5gbcz_w&index=4&list=PL5UBgub1 YWk3_ntSmubjbqZE6IS7Q7XbB Website : http://lmgp.grenoble-inp.fr Contact person Frederique SOUQ, Innovation Frederique.souq@linksium.fr 1/2 Project Manager, LINKSIUM,
