“AN AWESOME CAMP EXPERIENCE FOR AWESOME KIDS”
Camp Awesome is a private special needs camp located in Ooltewah Tennessee on the Ooltewah Athletic Campus
in the Fit One Fitness and Wellness Building.
Camp Awesome is a structured, safe and fun environment with low counselor / child ratio of 1 to 3 for ages 7 -12
years and 1 to 5 for ages 13 and above, with at least two instructors per group, for children and teens with
developmental challenges.
Campers enjoy an active camp experience with sports and activities developed on a level that all children can
participate in, music and dance, fitness and daily work on social skills and sport activities.
Sports activities include swimming, soccer, sand volley ball, basketball and gymnastics. Peer interaction is
encouraged through board games and some crafts. Downtime is provided several times a day for resting, eating,
playing board game and socializing.
The Head Counselors at camp have worked with children for years in both the Hamilton County School system as
well as private therapy. Assistant camp counselors have been with the camp since its beginning and work with
teens in our Winter Camps.
Camp Awesome is designed to increase self confidence, improve peer and social interaction and encourage
children to be physically active through fun, interactive sports play.
Our goal is to allow each child to have a fun summer camp experience, making new and lasting friends, and
exploring new activities, gaining independence and making memories to last.
Camp Awesome campers get to enjoy all the fun and activities of a traditional summer camp but with more
individual guidance and activities for different levels of physical abilities. We will encourage campers to stretch
their limits to try new things, but will never force them. Emotional and physical safety will always be our top
priority with each child.
One of our staff will be glad to attend your child’s end of the year IEP with you in order to use the summer to work
on the goals that you and your school have planned for your child. You will need to complete a request form along
with your other camp forms that will be needed in order to attend camp.
We believe summer camp is just as much about building confidence and friendships as much as it is about
swimming, sports or gymnastics.

Requirements to attend Camp Awesome:

Registration, health, Doctors release, waivers,
Fee’s required:
$45.00 registration fee. ( Non refundable)
Age requirement: All Campers will be separated into age appropriate age groupings : 7 -10year 11 -14years 1518 years and young adults .A ratio of 1 to 3 for younger children and 1 to 5 for older groups will be used, if you
would prefer you child to have a one to one an addition fee will be charged in order to have adequate staffing.
Physical requirements: All campers must physically be able to participate in sports type activities, walk up steps,
swim with the aid of a swim/float device, and able to take care of their own personal hygiene. All must be able to
attend to their own bathroom needs without the assistant of one of the staff. There will be no exceptions.
Participation requirements: Able to follow directions, using the same routine and schedules every day.
Work with other children in group type activities with out being physically aggressive towards children and staff.
A complete Camp Handbooks will be given to each participant upon completion of ALL forms and a $45.00
registration fee, which is non refundable and must be paid along with submission of forms.
SUMMER CAMP SHIRTS AND WATER BOTTLE:
Each child will receive a camp shirt and water bottle either to wear or as a summer camp keepsake.
Shirts will be given out by Wednesday of their first camp week and sizes will be according to the size
the parent requests on the registration form.
Additional shirts can be bought, if available, for $12.00.
Summer camps sessions and times: Camp sessions are Monday thru Thursday, 10:00 -3:00. Before and After care
available for a fee of $8.00 a day. ( 8:30-5:30). Space is limited and will be based on dates registration fees and
applications are received.
