opportunities it creates for future Science graduates (perhaps in careers that are yet
to even exist) are exciting and have the potential for explosive growth.
Students who are interested in biology and life sciences, and have a passion for
computer science or mathematics and statistics can combine these traditional
sciences to be at the forefront of future science.

 Profiling: the Bachelor of Science Advanced – Global Challenges (Honours)
Monash’s Bachelor of Science Advanced – Global Challenges (Honours) is part of an
ambitious vision to create a course unlike any other in Australia – a course that would
combine science, leadership and entrepreneurialism, providing graduates with a
springboard from university into business, community and government.
The core focus of the Bachelor of Science Advanced – Global Challenges (Honours) is to
equip students to become global citizens who have the skills needed to engage communities,
government and industry on pressing issues such as adaptation to climate change,
sustainable development and the many other challenges associated with a changing world.
Students in this course have a unique level of access to some of the world’s most innovative,
influential and disruptive thinkers. Guest speakers this year have included Dr Sam Prince,
Julie Bishop, Hugh Evans and Elliot Kotek, who have provided insights and advice to students
as part of the regular guest speaker component of the course.
A core course component of this course requires all students undertake two internships (at
least one international), and many of the students undertake internships in countries such
as Vietnam, Nepal, India and Austria. The Monash Science faculty and Monash Abroad
provide generous funding to assist students with these internship experiences.
Monash invites high-achieving students with a passion for science and leadership to apply
for this course. For further information, visit Have you got the Edge?
