Veteran’s Day Program
On November 10th, Clairview students and staff paid tribute to the
brave men and women who serve or have served in our military.
The school was adorned with red, white & blue reminders of what
makes Veterans Day so special as our students honored family
members and other Veterans in attendance. The lobby welcomed
our honored guests with the display of “The missing man table”reserved to honor missing loved ones or fellow veterans who did
not return home from their duties while serving our country, and
our annual “Wall of Heroes” was also proudly displayed with
pictures of loved ones who have served or are serving our country,
some who gave the ultimate sacrifice. After a time of
refreshments, our honored guests entered the multipurpose room
where the patriotism and gratitude continued. The program began
with the student-led flag processional and welcome by student
readers followed by the pledge of allegiance and singing of the
national anthem. The Clairview chorus sang and signed several
heart-felt musical selections, while many students from our selfWinner of 2015 Poster Contest: contained classrooms joined in the show of thanks by displaying
hand-made signs during the singing of “God Bless the USA.” Our
Mrs. Holden’s Class
guest speaker, Mr. Myers, reminded students and staff of what it
means to be a Veteran and how many of the freedoms that we
have today, such as going to school, is all because brave soldiers
paved the way many years ago.

Classroom: Self-Contained Life Skills Support
This year in Ms. Eye’s room, students have been working diligently on project-based learning,
academics, daily living and pre-vocational skills. One of the projects that they’ve worked on
was for this month’s craft fair. They made one-of-kind beaded bracelets to sell at the fair.
They also made paper turkeys to sell as well. Ms. Eye’s class looks forward to cooking on
Fridays and they love to do puzzles. In December, her class will begin a unit on survival signs
and symbols.
Champions of Art
This month, students in the life skills and
emotional support classes visited the Latrobe
Arts Center to view the “Willy Wonka” art

Nastuck, proudly displayed their “Willy Wonka” artwork

were treated to a smoothie and participated
in a scavenger hunt. This year was the 4th
year that the Latrobe Arts Center and the
WIU Foundation partnered to host the

bake sale and chinese auction was available as well as a light lunch for shoppers. The school
