Principal’s Report
Warrior’s Drum Beat
November 17, 2015
Dear Parents and Students:
It’s hard to believe, but yes, we are already midway through the second nine weeks of the first semester.
Parents should have already viewed their student(s) first nine week grades as they were posted on parent
focus October 28, 2015.
Highlights of our most recent activities include:
108 students were inducted into the National Honor Society on October 14th.
The Seminole Lakes Rotary students for the month of November are Madeleine Repka and Ryan Allan.
The Elks Club Students for the month of November are Sarah Huskey and Cameron Fady.
October 30th our World Languages department attended the annual SPIFFS field trip. Over 200 OFHS
students attended.
November 10th the 16th annual Veteran’s Day Concert was held here at OFHS. Local elementary schools,
Osceola Middle and Osceola Fundamental HS chorus departments performed. The concert was standing
room only attendance.
Our OFHS Warrior Pride Band received straight Superiors at the FBA – musical performance assessments at
Dunedin HS on 11/7. Our band also placed 4th at the Clearwater HS Tornado Tournament on 11/14 and will
perform again on 11/21 at the FMBC state semi-finals.
The theatre/drama departments fall play “Radium Girls” was held November 4 – 7. The play had outstanding
reviews and was well attended all nights. Food trucks were on site each night and they offered a wide array of
selections for all guests in attendance.
The girl’s golf team were crowned District and Regional champions. They also placed 3rd in the State
tournament. Haydyn Gibson placed 5th in the State and Madison Hiedeman placed 11th. The boy’s golf team
were District champions and they placed 4th at Regionals. Cameron Fady placed 11th in the State tournament.
Volleyball – were 10-1 in district play and finished as District runner-up and advanced to Regionals.
Swimming – Girls were District champions for the 6th straight year and our boys’ team was District runner-up.
Girl’s placed 2nd in Regionals and the boys placed 6th Regional champions were Amber Brickey (diving – new
school record). Savanah Sawyers (100 breast stroke) and Ricardo Martinez (200 IM - new school record).
Cross Country – Girls were PCAC Champions, District Champion and Regional runner-up and placed 5th at the
State meet. Emma Grantges – 18th and Fatima Abu-Rumman – 40th were top finishers at States. Boys were
PCAC runner-up, District champions, 6th at Regionals and the team placed 16th at the State meet. Abimael
Jimenez – 63rd and Jac Cautero – 95th were top finishers at States.
Football – finished 7-3 and were District runner-up. The team qualified for the State football playoffs this year.
Cheerleading – Congratulations to Marissa Laquire and Lauren Weedin for being named to the All-star
Cheerleading team.
Please remember that the Booster meetings will be held on December 1st at 7:00PM in various parts of the
school. They will not meet in January. PTSA and SAC will not hold meetings in December, but will resume
their meetings in January.
