Monday – Orally go over new spelling words
while students echo words and follow along in
book on focus wall. Call on students to match
word with word card and orally make sentences
using new words. Model writing sentences onto
white board.
Tuesday – Spelling City on classroom computers
or in computer lab; go on a word hunt in weekly
Storytown selections for spelling words and
other words that follow the ‘sh’ pattern.
Wednesday – Review nouns; discuss
common/proper nouns and the differences of
common/proper nouns. Orally name examples of
each. Pick one common and one proper noun to
write and illustrate.
Thursday – Computer lab – study island,
classworks, reading eggs, starfall, spelling city or
online classroom video lessons on weekly skills
Friday – Morning classes: Take to my room for
review of weekly skills, spelling bee, etc. before
testing; afternoon classes: Take to my room for
preview of next week’s skills and stories.
Any additional time throughout the week can be
used to study spelling words or find common and
proper nouns within the text.
