Brazil FAQ's

What airport will I fly into/out of?

Rio de Janeiro/Galeão - Antonio Carlos Jobim International Airport. Airport code: GIG

When should I arrive in Rio de Janeiro? When should I depart?

ARRIVE: We recommend that you arrive on the Sunday before classes begin.

DEPART: Your class will end on Friday, so you should not book a flight that would require you to be at the airport before 5pm.

What are my expenses?

You are responsible for airfare, hotel costs, ground transportation(except transporation to and from company visits), meals, and misc expenses. You are also responsible for paying for your Visa and any associated fees.

What additional paperwork do I need to complete?

You must complete and upload the following documents:

 Travel Registration

 Flight Information

 Emergency Contact

 Risk Waiver

 Photocopy of passport

 International SOS (ISOS)

All of the necessary forms and upload links can be found on the Required Forms page. FVG also requires you to complete their registration form , submit a copy of your passport and two 3cm x

4cm photos.

Where will we be staying?

An FGV staff generally arranges with a hotel for a block of rooms at a discounted rate. In the past, students have stayed at Hotel Everest (www.everest.com.br) and hotel Praia Ipanema

) The lower priced hotels are not always in great areas, not always safe, and you would not be able to walk anywhere even in groups once it's dusk so we do advise students to stay in the same hotel as agreed upon. You are responsible for making your own hotel reservation.

Will a member of the Evening MBA Staff be with us on the trip?

Yes! Amy Bentley will be traveling with you to Rio de Janeiro. She will be able to help you work with the staff at FGV and address any other concerns you may have.

What is the itinerary? Will there be any planned activities outside of class?

Class begins on Monday, and you should plan to be in class Monday through Friday from 8am to

5pm. FGV will be arranging company visits during those times as well.

What should I wear to class? Company visits?

Dress for class and company visits is generally business casual. Be sure to check the weather for Brazil as the seasons there are generally opposite from what they are here.

Are there specific safety concerns in Brazil?

General safety should be a concern for anyone traveling to/in Brazil. You are not a citizen of that country, so remember that you do not have the same rights as you do at home. Do not go out alone, and be aware of overly friendly locals. Never walk anywhere at night, even in a group.
