Heavy sleet in Slovenia
Situation Report
Date, 7 February 2014
The situation is slightly improving, however protection and rescue units and electro power
companies are still working to mitigate the consequences. While the basic living conditions
have been provided for most of the population, the disaster will have long term affect, since
the damage on infrastructure (roads, electric power lines, railway traffic etc.) and nature is
enormous.
All power generators received from foreign countries are in operation in the affected areas
and have contributed significantly to mitigate the consequences. Foreign rescue personnel is
in addition to their primarily assignment also assisting Slovenian rescuers/fire-fighters in
other operational activities. The number of the foreign rescuers in Slovenia is changing daily,
since the teams from Germany (Bavaria), Hungary and Croatia left after setting the power
generators and additional teams are coming in. Currently, there are 191 rescuers from 6
countries assisting Slovenia.
Slovenia received the following international assistance via the EU Civil Protection
