OCONOMOWOC AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT Role Description JOB TITLE: FT Lead Custodian Reports to: Custodial Operations Supervisor Union: Teamsters Local 695 Hours: 2:00 p.m.-10:30 p.m., two 15-minute breaks, one 1/2-hour lunch break. Work Category: Heavy Date: August 13, 2012 JOB PURPOSE SUMMARY: To conduct and oversee the overall hygiene and daily cleaning of the facility. Ensure that the daily custodial staff is present and set-up for replacements as needed. To conduct daily custodial needs such as work orders, setups for athletic and other events through the use of technology. To assist the head custodian to maintaining the building. To lead the summer cleaning and custodial operations during the summer months with direction from the Head custodian and buildings and grounds. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The duties described below are indicative of what the Lead Custodian may be asked to perform. Other duties may be assigned. I. Responsibility for cleaning and general appearance of school building, including the following: PERCENT OF SHIFT A. Mop floors. 0-33% B. Collect and remove garbage. 0-33% C. Strip, wax and buff floors . 7-100% D. Move furniture or athletic equipment and set-up bleachers or risers. 0-33% E. Shovel snow. 0-33% F. Replace ceiling tiles during summer. 67-100% G. Clean bathrooms and locker rooms. 0-33% II. Responsibility for completing minor maintenance repairs and performing miscellaneous work orders, including the following: (0-33% of shift) A. High school graduate desirable. Certificate of completion of low pressure boiler training is required and must be obtained within one year of start of position. Skills necessary to operate such equipment as snowblowers, mowers, cleaning scrubbers, vacuums, etc. Fundamental knowledge of plumbing, electricity, and carpentry and the skills necessary for basic maintenance in those areas. Fundamental painting, wallpapering, and plastering skills. Working knowledge of all mechanical equipment and service systems in the building. The capability to learn the job easily and comprehend all training procedures. Working knowledge of current technologies and ability to change with the fast passed technology upgrades as they apply to custodial operations. Examples: Facility scheduling software, building automation systems, preventive maintenance software, work order processing, access controls, and true-time / time off software. Fundamental knowledge of cleaning supplies, their uses and applications. Fundamental knowledge of building maintenance and general repairs: i.e. locks/lockers, doors/door closers, window replacement, etc. Organizational Skills: The individual must possess the following A.
