The class will discuss comprehension questions and summary notes on what they read yesterday. The class will continue reading through Chapter 3 of the Outsiders. The class will work on activities from the reading through chapter 3. The students will continue to complete the Note Taking and Summarizing Chart, complete chapter discussion questions and comprehension questions as well as vocabulary and reading journals. Students will complete a Character Development Sheet in Groups that mainly focuses on Chapters 1-3 and will be added to later as the students read through the book. The students will complete the Language Focus: Using Reference Materials to Verify Meanings The students will begin reading Chapter one and take notes on their summarizing chart as they read. The teacher will check to make sure the students are completing the chart correctly. The class will read as much as possible. At 10 minutes before the end of class, students will start answering comprehension questions from what they read today. The class will continue reading, answering comprehension questions, and completing the NoteTaking, Summarization chart for each chapter. The teacher will remind students to keep up with assignments in new packet and folder as they read- especially note taking sheet. Students will begin Working on the Writing Focus activity: Keywords and Search Terms The teacher will go over the activities from the week’s reading in preparation for the quiz next week.
