The meeting was called to order by Maggie Connell at 5:35 pm, in 405 ERC. McKenzie Kinzbach
recorded the meeting minutes.
Officer Reports
President – Carlo Perrotino:

John – has our current bylaws on the Drive
Michael will put constitution and bylaws on website
Michael needs to update minutes on the website
Looking to automate the process

Exec Dinner – where and when?
Doing it after a meeting – next general meeting on the 27th works for everyone

Student government hackathon last weekend was very successful
Looking into the Senior Design event to make it the UC Innovation Expo (or something
like that)
Varun will spearhead Snapchat filter
Treasurer – Max Inniger:

Created a ledger on the Drive
Made a sample mini ledger for Recognition
Each committee or Exec will have their own spreadsheet to see their budget
stuff
Wants everyone to send him what they want for their budget
He can show you what you had in the past
We have a lot in our external so it’s ok to run deficit the next few years
Created a budget request google form for during the year
New Sherri – Brittany Gerhardt
Giving her all of our backed up forms tomorrow
Should make Treasurer a year-long position with an intern
Easier transition and lighter work load

Reds game was great besides two rain delays
Salsa on the Square was ok, a lot of people dropped at the very last minute

Collegiate affairs – Mark Gruenbacher:

Had another open forum last week, not quite as successful as the first one
Upperclassmen get locked out of 800 Rhodes on the weekend – ENED said only
freshmen get access on the weekend
ENED views that zone as a hub for freshmen – highlighted that with GoCharge
station
They don’t realize that people other than freshmen use that place
It is the Alumni Learning Center, surely they didn’t have it in mind exclusively for
freshmen
Mark will set something up with Magnolia to discuss this
Mark will look into ASSET surveys
Met with Bucks today
Originally were going to look at all surveys, get a reasonable idea
of what students concerns were
Open forum is doing ASSETs job by getting continuous feedback from
students
According to Griggs, Bucks wants to know which professors and classes
are good and which are not
Open forum has a broader range
Open forum transportation issue
Has been researched and found that it is a localized issue. The guy is now
in contact with UC’s director of transportation
Mark will post successes on his slides at General Meeting
Meeting next week about CS department issue

Mark can’t get into contact with the people heading it
Emily has a list of bad classes and professors
Information needs to be reorganized

Employers are now able to pay to be in the booklet but not show up
Public affairs – Meredith Meads:

Newsletter – sample on projector
Survey last week at general meeting
Most want it through media, or on website or social media
Suggestion – put it on website and link through email
Can add a shout out section?
What if the club meeting section gets too large?
We can separate it
Cross that bridge when we get there
Use a newsletter service instead of a link to get actual views
Can use an HTML email from Blackboard (Dane can help with that)
Innovation Committee – Emily Demjanenko:
Attendance: Present
Met with Dr. Bucks today
Projects: Tribunal proctoring course evaluations by sitting in on a class and getting
course evaluations in person; syllabus auditing, encouraging teachers to better state
whether or not their textbook is required; exploratory week, you can sit in on a senior
level class for a specific major
Exploratory Week:
Not a senior design thing, looking at senior level application classes, looking for
professors who are extremely willing to do this

Changes to wording have been made and will be sent out
Money Security – Carlo
Got an email from Dean Arthur
Same person said we should just use credit or debit and create our own front end to skipjack
Carlo said we can’t/won’t do that, we won’t be individually targeted
Continue to follow our procedures and hope that it doesn’t come up again
Exec Member Recognition (Burger Phone) – Mark
Mark wants to break the rule and give it to two people
Giving it to Max for creating the Google Doc for the budget and to Emily for doing stuff with the
Innovation Committee

What is one entity you believe the college is lacking or could improve upon?
 Better parking during construction
o Not something we can control
 Better participation encouragement
o Encourage more people to nominate themselves and others for positions
 Maintenance of existing stuff
o Innovation committee
 Being able to use free prints in more locations (x4)
o Emily is already on that
 Updating labs and facilities
 Color print access
 Rent-A-Puppy stations to relieve stress
o Partnership with SPCA
o McKenzie is on it
o Animal shelters all around
o PetSmart
 Places for students to heat/store food in the engineering buildings
o Get microwaves in collaboration zone
o Might encourage people to eat food inside
o Vending with fresh stuff – not plausible for upkeep

CEAS needs a filter, too!
Varun will ask around to find out who made it and ask them to do ours
