DECISION
Proposal for a new postgraduate course
Proposed tuition fee Home/EU £9,000 (FC00/Prof course),
international fee £12,900
Anticipated annual recruitment of 20 fte, increasing to 60
The introduction of the Physician Associate role is designed to
facilitate and re-profile the NHS workforce in light of the reduction
in NHS training numbers in acute and general practice; local and
NHS provider organisations are supportive of a local initiative to
develop this role
The proposed course is designed to prepare graduates from life
or health science related subjects for work in this role
The emerging profession is currently not regulated but is
recognised by the Royal College of Physicians and all practicing
Physician Associates will be encouraged to register on the
Physician Associate (Assistant) Managed Voluntary Register
(PAMVR)
The course would offer two intake points to attract international
students; there is an increasing demand for Physician Associates
in the USA and India
