Developing linguistically and culturally diverse students leads to higher levels of language proficiency, achievement, and self-esteem. Provide a brief overview of the education program of the proposed school: Lincoln Dual Language Middle School will have a two-way Dual-Language Spanish/English program. Academic instruction will be provided in Spanish by ELAS middle school teachers, and provided in English by ELA-E and ELA-S middle school teachers. English-speaking students and Spanish-speaking students study grade level content together and serve as language models for one another. Both groups of students are immersed in a new language while developing literary skills in their native language. The goal of this challenging academic program will be for students to become bilingual (listeners and speakers) and biliterate (readers and writers). Parents are encouraged to visit classrooms and provide input.
