As an extension of its small business support services, BIEDO will address two deficiencies hampering recovery of individual enterprises, supply chains and the regional economy. An experienced business financial counsellor (BFC) will work intensively with SMEs on a one-on-one customised basis. Intensive post-flood re-building, facilitated by the BFC, will focus on cash flow recovery, practical business re-structuring, new loan negotiation or renegotiation of existing loans. The ultimate goal is post-flood stability and revival. Ten hands-on workshops will up skill regional enterprises in use of internet, social media and email as tools for Crisis Management, Disaster Recovery and Future Preparedness and Revival. A phone-based 'Talk to a Techie' service will provide 'as needs' follow-up. The ultimate goal is improved self-reliance in information management during and after a disaster and increased independence in undertaking basic recovery actions. BEC Sunshine Coast will provide contingency and continuity management skills mentoring, planning advice, information and business mentoring programs to small businesses that accelerate return to normal trading and advance Queensland businesses impacted by recent natural disasters and severe weather events. Services will build connection with experienced, high value mentoring and provide advice that transfers skills and enriches business life in areas of business management, operations, marketing, financial management and customer experience. Project will provide flexible, timely and relevant business development programs, information and advice that increase business management skills and know-how, provide easily implemented pathways and action planning that add value, innovation, resilience and sustainability for business and local community. Gladstone Region Small Business Advisory Services will provide a series of regular workshops, networking opportunities, one on one mentoring and diagnostic sessions and referrals to government agencies which will empower the small business proprietor. Small businesses will be better positioned and equipped to meet the challenges of future crisis situations. The seminars will provide information, resources and tools that will assist small horticultural business owners to understand the potential sources of risk and to identify simple cost-effective strategies to mitigate that risk. The project will further develop Growcom's disaster risk information pack and toolbox and develop additional content based on existing research and provide valuable exposure and extension for these resources via a series of seminars in regional areas, followed by webinars that will provide an ongoing, free online resource for small farm businesses. Mentoring will focus on the areas of financial planning, business management and minimising the effects of future events through introduction of business continuity, risk management and succession planning initiatives.
