Job Description
Clinical Track Faculty (Lecturer or Senior Lecturer; of Clinical Assistant or Clinical Associate
Professor)
General and Specific Duties:
The successful CT faculty position candidate will be expected to:
1. Provide clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals
[Companion Animal Hospital];
2. Have a distribution of effort approximately 65-80% clinical teaching and service in
the Cornell University Hospital for Animals to include participation in the
CPS/SOS program and rotation-based elective surgery instruction, 10-15%
research, and 5-15% didactic or laboratory instruction of veterinary students and
residents, and 5% other service to the section, department, and college;
3. Interact with CPS faculty and CPS technical staff and other hospital personnel
including being fully involved in efforts to ensure CPS caseload meets educational
goals.
4. Participate in collaborative research efforts.
5. Provide didactic and laboratory instruction of veterinary students.
Qualifications:
The successful CT faculty candidate will have:
1. DVM or equivalent degree;
2. +/- Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Veterinary
Practitioners
Tenure Track Faculty (Assistant or Associate Professor)

The successful TT faculty position candidate will be expected to:
1. Provide clinical teaching and service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals
[Companion Animal Hospital];
2. Have a distribution of effort 50% clinical teaching and service in the Cornell
University Hospital for Animals, 35% research, and 10% didactic or laboratory
instruction of veterinary students and residents, and 5% other service to the section,
department, and college;
3. Interact with CPS faculty, CPS technical staff and other hospital personnel
including being fully involved in efforts to ensure CPS caseload meets educational
goals.

4. Participate in independent and collaborative research efforts. Develop focused
research in an area of value to primary care companion animal practice.
5. Provide didactic and laboratory instruction of veterinary students.
Qualifications:
The successful TT faculty candidate will have:
1. DVM or equivalent degree;
2. Board certification or eligibility by the American Board of Veterinary Practitioners,
American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine, American College of
Theriogenology or other appropriate Specialty College.

Faculty Position in Community Practice Service
The Department of Clinical Sciences, College of Veterinary Medicine, Cornell University invites
applications for one clinical track or tenure track faculty position in the Section of Community
Practice Service. Candidates must have a DVM or equivalent degree. Board certification is
preferred, but candidates who have recently completed an approved residency and are boardeligible will also be considered.
The successful candidate will join one clinical track faculty member working in a comprehensive
teaching and referral hospital with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment. The Community
Practice Service provides primary medical and surgical care for privately owned animals as well
as services for shelter animals. The service works closely with the college’s Dermatology,
Shelter Medicine and Medical Genetics Programs. Responsibilities will be determined in
accordance with the service needs, academic priorities, and the candidate’s areas of expertise
within the specialty of primary care. Effort will be distributed among clinical teaching and
service in the Cornell University Hospital for Animals, didactic and laboratory instruction of
veterinary students and house officers, and research appropriate to the type of faculty
appointment. Tenure track faculty members are expected to undertake investigator-initiated
research. Salary and rank will be commensurate with academic credentials and experience.
The successful candidate will share supervision of veterinary students in the Community Practice
Service. The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work
cooperatively with surgical and medical specialists regarding case management.
