Critical Data Grid Computing and Application for Managing Large Scales Data Resources and Information Effectively in Distributed Environment Assoc. Prof Dr Noraziah Ahmad -Faculty of Computer Systems & Software Engineering, University Malaysia Pahang- Urgent requirement to obtain solutions for managing the critical data and application effectively, due large scales data resources and information in distributed environment. Data replication is one of the key components in data grid architecture as it enhances data access and reliability. Data grid deals with the efficient transaction management, placement and replication of large amounts of data. Synchronous replication can be categorized into several schemes, i.e., all data to all sites (full replication), all data to some sites and some data to all sites. In addition, question has been raised, is it Cloud Computing is just a new name for Grid? There is a common need to be able to manage large facilities. Due to the scalability issue and relevant to these scenarios, researcher becomes concern on what will happen in the event of disaster, how to manage when the server receive too many transactions, overloaded and impact the bottleneck of the system. The ability to preserve the delivery of expected services despite the presence of fault-caused errors within system itself called fault tolerance. Organizations need to provide current data to users who may be geographically remote and request distributed data around multiple sites in data grid. The challenges will be faced to those who design, maintain and manage the data grid is in ensuring the efficient access of replicated data to such a huge network and widely distributed. This talk covers on the following issues: 1. Managing large scale data resources in distributed database environment. 2. Data Infrastructure - synchronous versus asynchronous replication model. 3. Strict semantic and critical data using Binary Vote Assignment Grid (BVAG) model. The implementation of this scientific BVAG is currently financial supported by research funds/external grants under Fundamental Research Grant Scheme (FRGS), Exploratory Research Grant Scheme (ERGS), and Special Top/Down FRGS Grants (Best 2010 Fundamental Research Grant Scheme Project Output) by Ministry of Education Malaysia. BVAG also won the National Intellectual Property Awards 2014 by Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO), Ministry of Trade and Industry Malaysia. 4. Example case study using artefact social research networking eco-system for Malaysian Greater Research Network (MyGRANTS), sub-project under database research group using BVAGQ-AR. 5. Future projects and way forwards @ invitation collaboration projects includes research projects related to data mining, disaster recovery, load balancing, cloud computing and etc. - sharing some suggestions by Best 2010 Fundamental Research Grant Scheme Awards judges; National IP Awards 2014 judges; and research exhibition competition MTE2014 judges.
