Office for Alumni Affairs Student Intern Job Description The Office for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement (OAACA) is strategically positioned within the Office of External Relations and the Office of Education to act as a liaison between over 11,000 HSPH alumni and HSPH faculty, students, and administrators. The office develops and implements programs to build the alumni network and serves as a catalyst for connecting students, alumni, faculty, and outside constituencies on local, regional, and international levels. In addition, the Office for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement works closely with the student services, the Office of Education, as well as academic departments, to provide input into curricula, locate and facilitate practice placements and act as a resource for possible career and opportunities. The Office for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement works closely with the HSPH Alumni Association and the Alumni Council, the association's elected representative body, to organize educational and networking events in the United States and abroad. One of the goals of the Office for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement is to inform current students of the benefits of being an HSPH alumnus, including the many ways alumni give back to the Harvard School of Public Health as volunteers, mentors, and alumni officers both locally and regionally. Role of the Student Intern The role of the Student Intern would be to assist the Office for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement in alumni and student programming and outreach to alumni and students, and assist the Alumni Affairs staff data management and in informing alumni of services provided by the Office. The Student Intern will work on the following programs and initiatives throughout the year: Record changes to alumni data records in Advance database Assist with updating website, the HSPH Alumni Online Community Handle printing and mailing of letters or items mailed to alumni Prepares materials such as guest lists and nametags for upcoming events Assist with event programming throughout the semester such as the Professional Development Lunch Workshops in October and April, Alumni Weekend, the Women In Leadership Breakfast, and the Alumni-Student Networking Reception In addition, the Student Intern may develop and implement one project during the year. This project will be designed with input and collaboration with the Dean for Alumni Affairs and Career Advancement. Attendance at events and meetings sponsored by the OAACA is encouraged. The Student Intern will be supervised by the staff from the Alumni Affairs or Career Advancement office. Projects will be tailored based on class schedule and other commitments.
