1. Description
Please provide a detailed description to include purpose of the learning event, instructional strategies used to
engage educators in the learning, and any other information which will explain what content is being covered
during this event. This helps clarify the scope and depth of the learning event.
Participants will meet for 1.25 hrs on a biweekly basis to discuss outside reading assignments. Through
participation, participants will be better able to assess the current situations of their own schools and begin
to take purposeful steps in developing an intervention pyramid that implies that failure is not an option.
Interventions concerning learning and behavior will be constructed by Professional Learning Communities
and as participants progress through the study.
2. Learning Objectives/Targets
Please provide 2-3 learning objectives which you will use as targets for participant learning. It’s helpful to
finish the sentence, “Participants will …” (Utilize action verbs, such as, ASSESS, DEFINE, ANALYZE, etc.)
Participants will:
1. Build a strong central core program
2. Create strategies for interventions
3. Create a system of problem solving based on the three big ideas – a focus on learning, a
collaborative culture, and a focus on results.
4. Learn keys to legal and stakeholder support.

Total Hours in Group Sessions = 11.25
If required instructional hours (15 for 1 credit; 30 for 2 credits, etc.) aren’t met during sessions listed
above, please identify the hours remaining, and explain what participants will be required to do to
complete them.
Nine group sessions are 1.25 hours each for a total of 11.25 hours of instructional time. The remaining 3.5
hours + will be completed through reading, developing discussion notes, and outlining possible
intervention strategies to share in group sessions.

Required Criteria to Receive Credit
Attendance & Participation: Participants must be actively involved in all instructional hours provided.
Receiving credit is dependent upon quality evidence completed by participants that appropriately reflects
the amount of instructional hours this event provides. Please explain how or what the participants will
do to provide evidence of the following required assessments of learning.
Reflections on New Learning:
 Participants will share personal reflections of new learning through discussion and Q & Q during
the study session
Application of New Learning:
 Participants will be required to turn in an outline of strategies/interventions, taken from the
reading and group discussions, to be shared with their PLCs for consideration as part of the
development of a pyramid intervention plan for the school.

5. Grading Rubric – NA – S/U grading is the only available grading for book studies.
