Sessional Nursing Instructors, Faculty of Nursing The University of Calgary, Faculty of Nursing has multiple openings for Sessional Nursing Instructors to teach undergraduate level courses for Fall/Winter 2015-2016 and Spring/Summer 2016 semesters as follows: TERM 5 – NURS 489 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices): September – December, 2015 TERM 7 – NURS 589 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices: Older Adult, Child/Youth, Oncology, Mental Health): September – December, 2015 TERM 6 – NURS 499 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices): January – April, 2016 TERM 7 – NURS 589 (Integrating Nursing Roles and Practices: Oncology): May-August, 2016 The successful applicants are required to be available during that entire period(s). Sessional Instructors are provided with exceptional orientation, mentorship, and ongoing professional development. We are seeking applicants with nursing practice in the acute care setting, particularly those with previous nursing education practice experience. Practice education takes place both on and off campus. Scheduling varies and may include a combination of days and evening shifts, Monday through Friday. Teaching Responsibilities: Facilitate low to high-fidelity simulation activities within the Clinical Simulation Learning Centre Work effectively with small groups of students on-campus or in off campus settings in the community or acute care Participate in team meetings related to the practice course and faculty governance Participate in student assessment and evaluations on and off campus Seek excellence in teaching by applying various teaching strategies and working with colleagues Encourage and foster an environment of inquiry and valuing of evidence informed practice Qualifications: Candidates must be eligible for registration with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta. A Masters degree is normally required and preferred, although candidates with BN/BScN preparation will be considered.
