Program Overview
If you are a returning Veteran you probably
know that there are lots of private programs
to help with your transition to civilian life. To
be exact, there are currently 70,000 for profit
and not-for-profit programs. The problem is
that navigating these private programs and
the VHA is many times overwhelming,
confusing, and downright disappointing.
Where do you begin and how do you move
forward without wasting a lot of time and
energy?
After great initial success with our first
“proof of concept” pilot, we are currently in
the application process for identifying the 9
Veterans who will comprise our second
cohort. We are seeking Veterans who:
 Are post-9-11
 Have transportation
 Have no substance abuse issues
 Are employable
 Are willing and able to pay a refundable
$200 deposit
What we at Veteran Pathways have found is
that with the help of a buddy/mentor/coach,
you can more easily make the right choices
for you. What’s missing is not programs or
services, it’s having a partner and a structure
for finding “the way back home,” without a
lot of dead ends and detours.
Here is an overview of the Veteran Pathways
program for helping you do just that:
1. Connect with a Coach – Time is of the
essence! We connect our Veterans with a
Coach within 5 business days.
2. Complete an Assessment – Our brief online
screening surveys will determine areas
requiring in-depth assessment. Then a
thorough evaluation of the Veteran’s needs
is completed.
3. Create a Plan –The coach and Veteran
together create a customized plan based
on the assessment results and long and
short-term needs of the Veteran.
4. Stay the Course – Together the Veteran and
Coach complete the mission.
5. Pay it Forward – Veterans are asked to give
back to others in a meaningful way.
 Are committed to their own growth and
development through working with a
coach
The challenges Veterans face are addressed
in the five pathways we have identified:
 Domestic-Healthy families and personal
relationships
 Financial-financial health and security
 Social- Successful relationships at work
and in the greater community
 Career- Fulfilling, suitable employment
 Wellbeing- Thriving wellbeing in all
areas of life
Unlike many programs our approach is
holistic, addressing overall wellbeing. Rather
than tackling all areas at once, we help our
Veterans choose the most important pathway
first, providing focus and structure. They
have a clear direction and an accountability
partner, ensuring success.
