Scholarship Application Form
Background:
Friends of West Bowie County was formed in 2014 by members of
the community with the objective to raise money for college
scholarships for our local high school graduates in Bowie County.
Applications:
Applications for the scholarship are available at Bowie County
high schools on or before March 1 of each year. The completed
application and supporting documents must be returned on or
before April 30 of each year.
Eligibility:
Applicant must be a graduating senior enrolled in a Bowie County
high school that plans to attend an institution of higher learning.
Scholarship award recipients are selected without regard to race,
color, religion, or sex.
Applicant chosen as the recipient of this scholarship will be
required to show proof of enrollment (minimum of 9 credit hours or
the equivalent in vocational/technical college) in order to receive
the scholarship funds.
Applicant must display enthusiasm towards their chosen field of
study and the sport of outdoors.
Applicant must have a valid Texas State Hunting, Fishing, or
Trapping license (at least one or a combination thereof).
Directions:
Applications must be typed or written neatly in ink. A letter of
recommendation must accompany this application. The letter of
recommendation may be from a teacher, counselor, coach,
employer, or Church leader (excluding family).
School Honors and Awards:
Include all awards and the years which you received the awards
School Organizations / Clubs / Extracurricular Activities:
List any elected positions, projects completed, and years you were involved
Volunteer, Community, or Church Activities:
Attach an essay explaining why you have chosen your course of study and your
career goals and how the outdoors have affected your life choices.
