OFFICIAL CONTEST RULES & INFORMATION
The Farm to School Recipes for Success contest is designed
to find and share the most innovative projects and ideas in
Northeast Farm to School programs. We’re not looking for
cooking recipes, but for great activities, lessons,
strategies and projects that improve food and farm
education, school meal programs, farm to school connections
and more.
Winners & Prizes
 The contest will award four top prizes:
o 1st prize: $300 cash for a Farm to School program
o (2) 2nd prizes: $100 cash for a Farm to School
program
o Seven winners (one from each state) will also
receive free registration at the Farm to
Institution Summit in April and a chance to
present your winning recipe at the conference.
 Winners will be announced on March 13, 2015
 The Northeast Regional Steering Committee (RSC) of the
National Farm to School Network will select top
“recipes” to receive prizes and be included in a
“cookbook” of great ideas.
 In the event that a prize winner is ineligible or does
not respond within 10 business days of notification,
the prize will be forfeited and the RSC may choose
whether to award another entrant.
Eligibility
 Any person participating in Farm to School activities
in the Northeast region (ME, NH, MA, VT, NY, CT, RI)
is eligible to enter the contest. That means students,
parents, teachers, food service staff, farmers,
residents, supporting organizations and more!

years of age or older or must have a parent’s
permission.

add recipes to the contest. They may be selected to
present ideas at the Farm to Institution Summit and
recipes may be included in the final publication.
Selection Criteria
 Impact: How well the idea impacts education, health &
nutrition, local foods, farms and agriculture, and
community connections.

how it may spark innovative thinking about Farm to
School.
 Replicability: How easily the idea can be replicated
or adapted for use in other Northeast Farm to School
programs.
 Entry Quality: How clear and compelling is the entry?
Is the entry complete and easy to follow?

template)
 Multiple “recipes” from the same entrant may be chosen
