Rules
Here are the main things you need to know before entering the MCard Short Film Competition 2014:

Make a short film based on ‘Travel on buses and trains in West Yorkshire’

Films can be no longer than three minutes in length

Films can be film or animation

Upload your short film to YouTube and submit your video online at www.mcardpromotions.co.uk/submit-video
We reserve the right to withdraw any submissions deemed unsuitable or offensive. By completing
the application form and uploading your film, you agree to our Terms & Conditions (“Conditions”).

The deadline for entries is 20 December 2014 – films entered after this date will not be
considered.

Winners will be announced no later than 14 January 2015
Terms & Conditions

The Competition has been organised by the West Yorkshire Ticketing Company Ltd
(company number 05238694) whose registered address is 3rd Floor, 1 Ashley Road,
Altrincham, Cheshire, WA14 2DT (“the Promoter”)

The Competition opens 01 October 2014 and will close 23:59, 20 December 2014. All entries
must be received prior to this time and date. Any entries received after the closing date will
not be considered.

Entrants must create a short film with the theme: Bus and train travel in West Yorkshire. The
films judged to be the best will win spot prizes (as listed). The overall Competition winner
will win an evening at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds for up to 40 guests.

In order to enter a film, an entrant must upload an entry film to YouTube and submit the
video to www.mcard-promotions.co.uk

There is no limit on the amount of times an entrant may enter the Competition.
The duration of the film must not exceed three minutes (including titles and credits).
Non-English language films must include English Subtitles.

Entries will be judged by a panel chosen by the Promoter. The decisions of the judges are
final and no correspondence or discussion shall be entered into.
The Promoter reserves the right to refuse any entry at its sole discretion. No entry may contain
unlawful, libellous, obscene or objectionable material. The Promoter also reserves the right at any
time during the Competition to remove or disqualify any film when it believes that the entrant has:
1. not complied with these Conditions;
2. infringed any third party’s copyright;
3. failed to obtain the necessary consents as set out in these Conditions.
Prizes:

Overall Competition winner will win an evening at the Everyman Cinema in Leeds. This
includes a screening of the winning short film, plus a screening of a film of the winner’s
choice for up to 40 people in the private theatre. It also includes a drinks and pizza package.
The date of the screening will depend on availability at the Everyman cinema and must be
held by 31 March 2015. For the avoidance of doubt, all travel arrangements to the venue
will not be included as part of the prize.

The first 20 entries that meet the above brief will receive a voucher to redeem for a Weekly
Zones 1-5 Bus and Rail MCard to be used for the duration of one week by 31 December
2014.

Spot prizes will include cameras, smart phones, smart tablets and travel vouchers.

The Promoter reserves the right to substitute the prizes listed above at an equal value.

No cash alternative to the prizes will be offered. The prizes are not transferable.

The overall winner will be announced on the www.m-card.co.uk website no later than 14
January 2015. The winner will be notified by email, in the event that the winner does not
respond within 14 days of notification, then the Promoter reserves the right to re-allocate
the prize to a reserve winner.

Employees of the Promoter or West Yorkshire Combined Authority are not eligible to
enter the Competition.

The Competition is only open to residents of the United Kingdom.

The entrant must be the original creator of the film and must have obtained the necessary
permissions for the inclusion of copyrighted music and/or images within the film. The film
must not infringe the rights of privacy and publicity, copyright, trademarks or intellectual
property rights of any third parties.

If the entrant uses any material or elements in the film which are subject to the rights of a
third party, the entrant must obtain prior to submission of the film, the necessary consents
from such party to enable the Promoter to use and showcase the film. Such consent(s) shall
be at the expense of the entrant. A non-exhaustive list of such material or elements include:
name, voice and likeness of any person appearing in the film, location shot e.g. specific
building, any props and set dressings and any audio and/or audio-visual material which the
entrant does not own.

If any actor appearing in the film is a minor, the entrant shall obtain the necessary consent
from the minor’s parent or legal guardian.

By entering the Competition, entrants agree that the Promoter or any party authorised by
the Promoter may: (i) showcase their films on the m-card.co.uk website, MCardtravel
facebook page, MCard YouTube channel or any other media in connection with the
Competition; (ii) use the entrants names, likenesses, photographs, voices, sounds and/or
biographical information and films for advertising, publicity and promotional purposes
without additional compensation.

The winner agrees to reasonably participate in any public relations events organised by the
Promoter or on the Promoters behalf.

The entrant agrees that the Promoter shall not be liable for any claims, costs, liabilities,
damages, expenses and losses arising out of (i) the Promoter’s use of the film; (ii) the
entrant’s participation in the Competition; (iii) the acceptance and use of the prize (iv)
technical failures of any kind including but not limited to, problems or delays arising from
software or equipment malfunctions or computer viruses; (v) any events outside the
Promoters reasonable control. Nothing in this clause shall be construed to exclude or limit
the Promoters liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence or any other liability
which by law cannot be excluded or limited.

The Promoter reserves the right to cancel or amend the Competition and these Conditions in
the event of a catastrophe, war, civil or military disturbance, act of God or any actual or
anticipated breach of any applicable law or regulation or any other event outside of the
Promoters reasonable control. Any changes to the Competition will be notified to entrants
as soon as reasonably practicable.

This Agreement shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the
Parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

By entering the Competition, entrants confirm that they have read and agree to be bound by
these Conditions and by the decisions of the Promoter.

The Promoter reserves the right to offer an alternative prize to the same value
