Author: Sherman Alexie
Recommendation: The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian is definitely my favorite book of all
time. 15-year old Junior is born with a variety of health issues. He lives on the Spokane Indian
Reservation with his best friend Rowdy. I recommend this book to anyone who likes realistic fiction and
books with humor.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book because I’ve always liked realistic fiction but it
was also funny. I liked it a lot. It is also interesting to learn about Indian Reservations.

Book: The Nazi Hunters
Author: Neal Bascomb
Recommendation: If you like action and World War II books, you should read this book. It is about a
group of spies trying to down the world’s most dangerous Nazi, Adolf Eichmann.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book because Nazis and World War II are my favorite
subjects in history to learn about.

Book: Everyday Angel
Author: Victoria Schwab
Recommendation: Everyday Angel is a great book gocused on Gabby and Aria. This ook has great moral
to it and it flows very well. I totally recommend this book to people who are interested in seeing how
helping someone makes a big difference. Read this book because it helps you understand how people
can change their lives and personalities.
Why this is my favorite book: I really liked this book because I have a similar personality as the two girls.
Gabby is very kind but unsure of herself and Aria is helpful, kind, and very sweet. I definitely
recommend this book to all girls.

Book: The Westing Game
Author: Ellen Raskin
Recommendation: The Westing Game is a great novel that is based on a mysterious, blaming game. If
you like mystery, murder clues, and a touch of humor, this book is for you. This book will keep you on
the edge of your seat with its very interesting plot and character tangles.
Why this is my favorite book: The Westing Game is my favorite novel because it was very engaging. I
also liked it because it was very hard to put down and I love the genre of mystery.

Book: Ungifted
Author: Gordan Korman
Recommendation: I recommend this book because it is the mosy funny book I have ever read. If you
like funny, fiction novels, this book is for you. The main character is supposed to be in detention but he
is accidently put in the gifted school. Then he is confused about problems and what is going on so he
becomes rather lost.
Why this is my favorite book: It is a very funny book and I enjoy reading fiction. It has a really cool
robot in it. This is the ultimate engaging, funny book.

Book: Play Ball
Author: Matt Christopher
Recommendation: Play Ball is a good book centered around sports. If you like baseball, I recommend
this book for you. It is about how you sometimes need to forget what happened in the past.
Why this is my favorite book: I liked Play Ball because I really enjoy books about baseball and all sports.
I wanted to read it again because it was very engaging.

Book: The Trouble with Chickens
Author: Doreen Cronin and Kevin Cornell
Recommendation: A talking dog had to help a mother chicken find her children. He didn’t want two
help but he did the right thing. They went on a search to find the chicks. Later, he finds a note and
continues to search. Eventually he finds the chicks but it’s going to be hard to get to them. They had to
be careful and overcome a lot of obstacles in order to get the chicks back. The mother chicken becomes
happy again as she works to get her chicks back.
Why this is my favorite book: I recommend this book to fantasy lovers. This book has a lot of funny
parts and few mysterious parts. I really recommend this book because it is engaging, well written, and I
am sure you will love it.

Book: Frindle
Author: Andrew Clements
Recommendation: Frindle is a great book because students are rising up and trying to get a new word
put in the dictionary. Nick Allen needs to keep fighting to make the word ‘frindle’ a common word that
means the same thing as ‘pen.’ He wants to prove a point to his dictionary-loving teacher. I recommend
this book for people who like to see how others overcome conflict.
Why this is my favorite book: Frindle is my favorite novel because when I was reading it, I found it very
funny.

Recommendation: If you like funny, interesting books, Frindle is for you. It is a good book to read
because it is funny, engaging, and easy to relate with. It is about an adventure that takes place in school
and about how things do not always turn out like you may have planned.
Why this is my favorite book: Frindle was a perfect book for me because it was right on level. It was not
too hard and not too easy but kept my attention.

Book: Throwing Strikes
Author: R.A. Dickey
Recommendation: I recommend this book for athletes or people who like sports because it is centered
around sports. The book is an autobiography by R.A. Dickey. The book follows R.A. Dickey’s life from
childhood up until he was a pitcher for the NY Mets. This is a very good book and I think everybody
should read it.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book this year because it tells you how R.A. Dickey
throws his knuckleballs and strikes out batters. It is a great book that is fully engaging.
ETHAN PAUL MAIER
Book: The Mortal Instruments
Author: Cassandra Clare
Recommendation: This is a good science fiction book. It is about a girl who needs to find a cup that
makes you immortal. She finds that she has powers that help her find the cup.
Why this is my favorite book: I liked this book because it was like a mix of superhero books and Harry
Potter. The girl in the book has to fight vampires to save her friend. Her other friend is a demon hunter.
This book is full of many adventures that keep you wanting to reading from the first to the last page!

Book: The Haunted Mansion
Author: Jason Surrell
Recommendation: I recommend this book to people who fiction and mysteries. The Haunted Museum
was a great book because there is a big mystery throughout the book. They must find a way to stop
what is going on. This book will keep you entertained and you will not get bored!
Why this is my favorite book: The Haunted Museum is my favorite book because it was very interesting
and mysterious. The book was great and was my favorite genre – fantasy.

Author: Tim Green
Recommendation: I recommend this book to people who play sports and who are dedicated to sports.
Perfect Season is a good book for anybody even interested in sports as it can help keep you motivated
and teach you how to play baseball a little better.
Why this is my favorite book: Perfect Season has been my favorite book because it taught me how to
play a little better. It helped me adjust my form and think about the way I play.

Recommendation: Westing Game was an interesting book. I liked how it pushes you to find out the
mystery of Sam Westing. Once you pick up the book, you won’t want to put it down. Characters have
to figure out a set of clues and figure out what is true and what is not.
Why this is my favorite book: If you like mystery, you will love this book! It is fun to see if you can
figure out the mystery before the characters do!

Recommendation: I would recommend this book because Frindle is engaging and really funny. It is
centered around a school event and one student’s creativity. Frindle is so good that I was excited to
read it.
Why this is my favorite book: It was exciting and made me laugh.

Recommendation: Nowhere to Run is a great book based on mystery and adventure. I recommend this
book to people who are interested in that genre. Amy and Dan have to find where MR. Pierce is and
where he but the serum unless they want him to rule the world.
Why this is my favorite book: The book is my favorite because it has a lot of description and a lot of
detail. The book was very interesting, mysterious, and adventure books are my favorite type to read.

Recommendation: The book had great adventures and fun ideas. If you are interested in adventure,
creativity, and ideas that you can relate with, this book is for you. Nick had quite a big idea for Frindle!
Why this is my favorite book: I had a hard time putting this book down! It was interesting and kept me
entertained.

Recommendation: I recommend Shiloh because it is sad but can bring a lot of love to your heart. It is
based around a dog’s life. Marty is able to save Shiloh and bring love to the family.
Why this is my favorite book: Shiloh is my favorite book because even though it is sad, it brings a lot of
love and care to my heart. I love dogs and any book about animals!

Book: There’s a Boy in the Girl’s Bathroom
Author: Louis Sachar
Recommendation: I recommend this book if you like realistic fiction. This book talks about people being
there for you during good and bad times. Some people are there for you at home and at school no
matter what.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book because it was problem after problem but the
characters work through them. It is a funny book that is encouraging and easily relatable.

Book: We Could be Brothers
Author: Derrick Barnes
Recommendation: We Could be Brothers is centered around two boys. One comes from the good side
of town while the other has to do a lot and hardly sees his mom anymore. This book is realistic fiction
and is full of adventure and getting into trouble.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book this year because it had a lot of great detail on
how the boys felt during the story. The book also had a lot of action.

Author: Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent
Recommendation: This is a great book based on a true story. If you are just getting to learn about God
of just started going to church this book is for you. This book is really interesting because it follows a
young boy into surgery. He looks at the nurse and imagines himself in Heaven.
Why this is my favorite book: This is my favorite book because it opened my heart more into God. It is
a great book and you should read it.
