As the Director of Environmental Services-led an initiative to streamline the environmental services department

resulting growth and increased services along with additional practitioners. Operational oversight of intensive
care units and step down units to ensure staffing ratios are maintained and expenses meet budget.
Operational oversight of the diabetes self management department increasing volume and making patients
healthier, increased volume and practitioners in sleep medicine and increased efficiencies and competencies in
respiratory therapy along with a complete turnaround of environmental services increasing competencies and

Coordinated heart failure team and oversaw heart failure coordinator to ensure compliance with evidence
based guidelines established by the American Heart Association. Compliance with achievement measures rose
from 70% to 84% compliance over 2 years.
Increased referrals and volumes through to our cardiac rehab program and echo department through
relationship building with the cardiologists and referring facilities. Annual volumes increased over a 3 year
period by 6%.
Coordinate cardiovascular care and schedules between hospitalists and cardiologists to allow for proper stress
test selection and appropriate use of our resources off hours and weekends.

clinic and hospital coverage. Laid the groundwork to add 3 new neurologists and a neuro-APRN in response to

Population Health Management Facilitator at ECHN



Organized and oversee a pre-diabetic teaching program through our diabetes self management department
with the goal of increasing the health of the at-risk population in our service area by increasing access to our
services with more convenient hours and access to our classes. Patient volume increased by 20% over 6
months. Other metrics included- 85% of patients had blood glucose levels within an acceptable range upon
discharge from the program compared to 35% upon admission to the program.
Received hypertension grant through the CDC providing blood pressure monitors to hypertensive patients with
the goal of lowering their blood pressure by goal setting and teaching self management techniques. Results
were a 10 point reduction in systolic blood pressure for 80% of the patients enrolled in the project.
Currently managing the diabetes education department maximizing efficiencies through better task assignment
and hiring staff to take on additional volume. Created a marketing plan sending diabetes educators to visit
physician offices weekly to market our services. Our efforts contributed to a 20% increase in volume.



Implemented system wide efficiency program to increase presence in clinical areas and improve cleanliness of
the facility through new competency programs and implementation of a cleanliness-monitoring program. In a 6
month period the hospital acquired infection rates decreased by 3%.
Analyzed contracts and negotiated with vendors to decrease non-salary expenses. I personally evaluated our
contracts with over 20 vendors, consolidated some, reassigned and canceled others. Results of this thorough

evaluation of all Environmental Services contracts resulted in better products, better service and a savings of
$500,000 upon re-executing the contracts.
Performed a thorough analysis of equipment and staffing needs and made changes to the staffing model to
ensure infection control requirements were exceeded in the OR. Changes included purchasing needed
equipment, retraining, redeploying staff and more consistent oversight resulting in decreased infection rates
and increased patient, staff and physician satisfaction with cleanliness of all areas in the hospital.

Facilitated a $15 million dollar renovation project to create a Heart and Vascular Center at Upstate which
included planning, design, and construction, staffing, capital equipment procurement and a marketing plan for
the new Heart and Vascular Center. The newly created center co-located all of cardiology both invasive and
non-invasive helping to coordinate care, add staffing efficiencies, create some niche services and improve
patient safety, quality of care and access to services.
Increased productivity, order accuracy, revenue and improved patient care for our cardiac patients by
coordinating the installation of the GE MUSE EKG management system across the institution as well as
installed reading and editing stations and over 50 EKG carts for physicians and staff.
Coordinated procurement of close to $1,000,000 worth of state of the art cardiac ultrasound equipment,
workstations and reading stations allowing an all digital solution for interpretation and reporting of cardiac
studies to increase productivity, accuracy, reduce costs and provide a higher quality of care with better
diagnostic capabilities and quicker turnaround times.
Tracked quality and patient satisfaction related to our cardiac services and made improvements to our
communication processes and made best practice guidelines readily available to staff which ultimately allowed
us to provide better care for our patients.
Performed annual performance evaluations on all employees within the department.
Streamlined the patient intake area for more efficient scheduling, billing, and inventory management resulting in
a 22% decrease in our no show rate and 50% increase in volume for our stress echo and EKG departments
over five years.
