Chief Referee Announcement
2015 Fayetteville Stage Race (2015-1175)
General Information
1.
This event will be run according to current USA Cycling Road Race Rules and
Regulations, as well as information published in the Race Bible and the
Communiqués.
2.
The principal officials for this event are Chief Referee Lura Popovich, (214668-2229) and Chief Judge Bonnie Sollenberger, (214-478-4717).
3.
Results will be posted at the SPJST hall - race headquarters

This is a stage race, and the rules for Stage Races are different than for oneday road race events. ALL RIDERS MUST SIGN IN FOR STAGE 1 and
STAGE 3 no later than 10 minutes before the scheduled departure for
the stage. Any rider who has not signed in for Stage 1 or Stage 3 will be
classified as DNS (Did Not Start) for that stage, or will be fined $20 for failure
to sign in (Rule 8A5(l)). A second offense will result in an additional $50 fine
and Disqualification from the Stage Race. Please note that there is no sign-in
for the Stage 2 Time Trial.
5.
For Stages 1 and 3: There will be no warning for a first offense of the Center
Line Rule. The sanction will begin with a 30 second penalty, and may
also escalate to Disqualification for dangerous or flagrant violations.
6.
For the Stage 2 TT, the Center Line Rule will apply to 100% of the TT venue.
There will not be any warning for a first offense, nor will there be a fine for a
second offense; the sanction begins with a Disqualification.
7.
There WILL be time cuts for each road stage, based on Winner’s Time plus
25% (Rule 3H6(c)(iv), modified by percentage in Race Bible).
8.
A rider must finish each stage in order to be eligible to start the next stage.
9.
Intermediate Time Bonuses will be awarded in Stages 1 and 3. The first
three riders to cross the designated Hot Spot ( Saturday 1st LAP – Sunday 2nd
LAP) will receive 3, 2, and 1 second(s), respectively. For JUNIORS, time
bonuses will be awarded on Lap 1 of Stages 1 and 3.
10. Finish Time Bonuses will be awarded in Stages 1 and 3. The first three
finishers in each road race will receive 10, 6, and 4 seconds, respectively.

11. Categories that start together (e.g., Masters 50+ and Masters 60+; Women
Cat 4 and Women 40+ Cat 3/4; Junior Cat 4/5 and Junior 10-14 Cat 4/5) will
compete for the same set of time bonuses.
12. JUNIOR ROLL OUT will take place BEFORE the start of each stage; this
includes Stage 2 Time Trial. Please report 15 minutes prior to the start of
your race. Failure to roll out will result in disqualification from the stage
race.
13. All protests regarding race incidents or decisions must be delivered in writing
to the Chief Referee within 15 minutes of the incident or decision,
accompanied by a $20 Fee. Members of the Race Jury for this event are Lura
Popovich, Andy Hollinger, Brian Hiatt, and Joe Morgan (alternate members:
Gerald Burns and Mike Gladu).
14. BIB NUMBERS MUST BE WORN FOR ALL STAGES, and may not be
trimmed or folded.
15. Start Lists and Results will be posted at Race Headquarters, the SPJST Hall in
Fayetteville, TX.
16. Protest Periods:
a. Stage 1 Results, and GC Results after Stage 1: the protest period ends
at 1:30 PM Saturday.
b. Stage 2 Results, and GC Results after Stage 2: the protest period ends
at 7:00 AM Sunday morning.
c. Stage 3 Results, and Final GC Results: the protest period ends 15
minutes after the results are posted for Stage 3.
17. Riders withdrawing from competition must inform the Chief Judge, Bonnie
Sollenbegrer.
18. Foul or abusive language is forbidden. A first offense will result in a warning
and/or a fine; a second offense will result in disqualification.
19. Helmets are to be worn at all times while rider is astride on any bike During the period of registration start until the last award is given out. The
sanction will begin with a 30 second penalty, and may also escalate
to Disqualification for dangerous or flagrant violations.

20. The Prize List for the Pro/1/2 Race will be paid at 85% of the
published List for both GC and Stage Results, because this field did not
meet the minimum field limit of 40 riders (34 riders registered, thus 85%).
