ABSTRACT Andi Iyan Padjalangi, EFFECT OF ASSESSMENT WORK PERFORMANCE AND COMPETENCE OF EMPLOYEES IN POSITION TO PROMOTE STATE BANK INDONESIA (PERSERO) MAKASSAR BRANCH INC (led by Dr. Muh. Idrus Taba, SE., M.Si and Dr. Nurjannah Hamid,SE.,M.Agr). This study aims to determine the effect of either jointly or partial between job performance and competency assessment of employees for promotion on PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Branch of Makassar. It is hoped that information obtained from the company can improve the quality of the promotion policy, and thus more able to enhance the competitiveness of enterprises in the future. This study uses quantitative methods to research the type annotations (explanatory research) by using primary data and secondary data. The population in this study were employees of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Branch of Makassar and as many as 60 employees sampled HRD research department. The data analysis technique used is multiple linear regression and partial by using SPSS 19.0. The results of regression analysis showed that the job performance appraisal variables (X1) and the competence of employees (X2) and simultaneously have a significant effect on promotion. Competencies of employees (X2) is a variable that has a greater influence on promotion and dominant (Y) with a regression coefficient value of 0.652 iv
