Lebanon Lady Greyhound Basketball 2011-2012 PLAYER CONTRACT These rules and consequences are to help the student-athlete, parents, and the coaches understand what is expected from them. They were developed to strengthen the communication between the coaches, players, parents, guardians, and administration. If at any time a player does not follow these guidelines, then she must accept the consequences from the basketball program in addition to any consequences from the school. The coaching staff reserves the right to make decisions about and set consequences for any behaviors detrimental to the team that are not specifically covered in this document. CHARACTER All players will represent the Lebanon Lady Greyhound Basketball Program in a positive manner and will refrain from engaging in activities that is detrimental to the player or the team. All players will portray a positive attitude toward the coaching staff, teammates, referees, and opposing players and coaches. This encompasses anything done before, during, or after any sporting event. Violation of this rule will result in discipline by the coaching staff. If the problem persists, a meeting involving the coach, player, and principal will be held and further consequences discussed. General Rules of Conduct: Absolutely no profanity. Always be courteous to others. Maintain personal cleanliness at all times. Dress clothes to be worn to school on all game days. Conduct yourself as a representative of your school, your family, and your community. GRADES To participate in this program, all players must remain eligible. If a player at any time has a “F” in any subject they are ineligible until the grade is brought up. If at any time a player is on the ineligible list, she is immediately ineligible for participating in any scrimmages or games. Lebanon Lady Greyhound Basketball 2011-2012 PRACTICE Rules for Practice Sessions: 1. Never miss practice sessions unless excused by the coach prior to practice. * 2. No tardiness to practice sessions. 3. Hustle through drills. When the coach blows the whistle, activity should stop immediately. 4. When the coach is talking, give him your undivided attention. The coach should never have to compete with other conversations for attention. 5. Practice is serious. No. foolishness or boisterous conduct will be permitted. * A player should not miss practice unless for one of the following reasons: School event with coach having prior notification Excused absence from school Excused absence with prior notification If injured, players are still required to attend practice if they are able. Players must notify Coach Schieppe, before start of any practice, workout, etc. if unable to attend. Do not send information through a teammate or the school office, unless it is a MAJOR emergency. All players are responsible for meeting with Coach Schieppe after missing practice to receive required makeup information. Unexcused absences will result in double the conditioning and: First offense- meeting with coach Second offense- 1 game suspension Third offense- indefinite suspension from program GAMES Rules for Games: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. Exert your best effort at all times. No talking during time-outs except when requested by the coach. When leaving the floor as a result of substitution, hustle to the bench. Use no profanity. No bickering with opposing players. No arguing with officials. Do not be a braggart in victory, and accept defeat humbly and without excuse. Lebanon Lady Greyhound Basketball 2011-2012 8. When not in the game, all players on the bench must give their attention and loyalty to those players in the game. PUNCTUALITY All players are expected to be on time to any meetings, practices, film sessions, etc. TEN MINUTE RULE, if you are ten minutes early then you are on time. Being late is inexcusable. ~First offense- 15 lines in 15 minutes. Out of starting lineup or reduced playing role. ~Second offense- 25 lines in 25 minutes. Out of starting lineup or reduced playing role. ~Third offense- 50 lines in 50 minutes + 5 for every minute late. One game suspension. ~Fourth offense- Indefinitely suspended from program. USE OF ALCOHOL AND/OR DRUGS AND OR TOBACCO A. Use, possession, distribution, or sale of alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or any lookalike substances at any time during the school day and at any school related activity will not be tolerated. Students involved with use, possession, distribution, or sale of alcohol, illegal drugs, tobacco or look-alike substances will be subject to school discipline by the principal in accordance with school handbooks and district policy. B. Use, possession, distribution, or sale of alcohol, illegal drugs or tobacco AT ANY TIME DURING THE TWELVE-MONTH PERIOD BEGINNING ON THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL will not be tolerated of student athletes, cheerleaders, or pom pon squad members. 1. FIRST VIOLATION. For any infraction involving alcohol or illegal drugs, a meeting shall be held with the student, a parent or legal guardian, and the principal. This meeting shall be held as soon as possible. If it is determined that the student is guilty of an activity involving alcohol or illegal drugs, the student will be suspended from participation the number of dates or contests specified in the schedule below. 2. SECOND VIOLATION. If a student commits a second infraction involving alcohol and/or illegal drugs at any time during his/her junior high and/or high school career, the following procedure shall apply: Lebanon Lady Greyhound Basketball 2011-2012 A meeting shall be held with the student, a parent or guardian and the Athletic Director. The student may not attend any practice or game until the conference is held. This meeting shall be held as soon as possible. If it is determined at the meeting that the student committed an infraction involving alcohol and/or illegal drugs, the student will be suspended from participation for those number of dates or contests provided in the attached schedule and will be offered the following options. A.The student will be prohibited from participation on any athletic team, cheerleading, or pom pon squad for the remainder of his/her high school career; or B.The student may show evidence that he/she has completed or is receiving counseling or treatment from a drug counselor, psychiatrists, social worker, or other professional person or agency regarding use and/or abuse of alcohol or illegal drugs. The student will be eligible to return to athletics, cheerleading, or the pom pon squad upon proof, in writing, of admittance to and successful completion of the prescribed treatment. Any cost incurred as a result of such counseling or treatment shall be the sole responsibility of the student. The student or parent shall be notified in writing of the penalty imposed. 3. Third Violation: If a student commits a third infraction involving illegal drugs or alcohol at any time during his/her junior high and/or her high school career, a meeting will be held with the student, a parent or guardian, and the principal or his designee. The student may not attend any practices or events until after the conference has been held. If it is determined that the student has committed a third infraction involving alcohol or drugs, the student will be prohibited from participation in any athletic program, cheerleading, or on the pom pon squad for the remainder of his/her high school career. The principal shall notify the parents of the student involved in writing.
