Robe Skate Park
Robe Sealife Centre
“The exterior of this place looked just like some industrial shed but once inside there was a
surprising array of sea life to see. I think this business is in it's beginning stages but the potential is
there, starting with the enthusiasm shown by the manager, who's knowledge and passion for the
fish in her care is engaging.
We were guided by the manager who shared her extensive knowledge of all the fish and explained
how the aquarium is set up and will continue to grow. We learnt about how the fish are bred, this is
all done onsite. A lot of effort as been made in most tanks to make them look interesting. I guess the
next stage would be to have some written signs/details to accompany each tank, although during
our visit we didn't need that as we were guided most of the time we were there.
At this stage, the highlights were the Port Jackson sharks, which she tempts with tidbits of fish so the
come to the surface for easy viewing. Also it was great to learn about the seahorses which you can
see in all stages of their lifecycle, even the teeny tiny ones.
Don't miss the crayfish and the video display of how it changes it's exo-skeleton!! Amazing.”
Family Ticket $35 (extra $4 each to feed the fish)
Robe Customs House Museum
The displays in the museum tell the stories of gold fever and the Chinese migrants as well as the
many shipwrecks off the coast and general everyday life for the early settlers of the period. There
are several display cases of interesting artefacts from the area as well as some interactives for
children and the young at heart including large jigsaw puzzles relating to shipwrecks and a press
button activity where you can pretend to be the deputy officer to Henry Melville and run the port.
There is also a new slide show of historical photographs set to music to view on a flat screen
monitor.

The Blue Lake
Tantanoola Caves Conservation Park
Come and discover one of South Australia's most impressive caves at the Tantanoola Caves
Conservation Park.
This spectacular cave, set into a cliff face, is believed to have been exposed by the constant
pounding of the ocean. Over time the sea has retreated leaving behind a cavern of interesting shells,
pebbles and seal bones.
Family pass: $33
Cave Garden at Night
Don’t miss the spectacular sound and light show that runs nightly at 9pm and 9.15pm during
daylight savings. The sound and light show projects and tells the Aboriginal Dreaming of the Cave
Garden and Dreamtime stories. Once you peer into the sinkhole, you will see laser lighting and
bright colour emanating from the cave, the shadowlike images from the sound and light show
creating a mystical environment.
Umpherston Sinkhole at Night
Visit the Umpherston Sinkhole on Jubilee Highway East to play with the possums who venture out
for their nightly feed.
Valley Lakes Recreational Area
The playground is obviously the highlight of the area, and that is what makes the Valley Lake such a
great place to go with kids. The fenced in spot doesn't contain just one playground, but many, all in
one large play area. The playgrounds are mostly themed, which means kids can decide whether they
want to run a farm, captain a pirate ship, or rule a nation.
Vansittart Park
With its beautiful gardens, bowling green and sports arena Vansittart Park is a major attraction to
the City. The large playground with picnic area and shelter is popular for family picnics. The
memorial erected in the centre of the gardens was unveiled in October 1922 to commemorate those
men from the district who died in the Great War. The gates at the entrance were opened in May
1959 as a memorial to the fallen of the Second World War. A garden for the blind and a biblical
garden are recent additions. In 1991 a new rotunda was completed to house the Krupp field gun
which was captured during the Great World War.
Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail
Coonawarra is renowned as one of Australia’s finest wine regions and is particularly known for
producing world class red wines especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Its secret lies in a magical marriage
of rich red Terra Rossa soil, limestone, pure underground water and a long cool ripening season for
the grapes.
The 5 wineries along the walking trail are all open 7 days a week and you will be warmly welcomed
for tastings.
Distance: The Coonawarra Wineries Walking Trail is just under 5 kilometres. If you allow 20 minutes
at each winery, the trail should take approximately 3 hours to complete. You may wish to factor in
more time for a picnic on the lawns at one of the wineries.
Piccaninnie Ponds
Enjoy the natural beauty of this unique site where the crystal clear water emerges from the
underground system up through submerged caverns and underwater gardens to flow via a creek to
the ocean. Walk on the board walk to the ponds, over the sand hill to the beach where the creek
takes the emerging water to the ocean. Or from the beach car park, west along the established trail
to view the park and creek. Take the 20 minute walk down the beach in an easterly direction to see
water bubbling up through the sand.
Mt Gambier Central Caravan Park
Mount Gambier Central Caravan Park really is central. Located in a quiet street in the heart of the
town, it is only a short stroll from superb cafe dining and Mount Gambier's shopping precinct. See
newest release movies at the nearby cinema.
