Social Studies: Chapter 1 MIGRATION TO THE AMERICAS In this chapter you discovered that people did not arrive by plane or train. They crossed a land bridge from northeastern Asia to what is now Alaska. You can't cross that land bridge since it is now under the Bering Strait. However, during the Ice Age, that strip of land was used. The environment influences us today just like in the past. People could not stay in one place when they hunted for food. Once farming started, people were able to stay in one place and establish communities a lot like the feeling of community in your neighborhoods.
