Submission Guidelines

The presenting author must be registered to the congress

Abstract submission information :

1.

When submitting an abstract it is imperative that the guidelines are followed: failure to do so may result in the abstract being rejected.

See the current instructions included in this mailing.

2.

The presenting author, either podium or poster presentation, MUST be the first author listed. Only those individuals who have contributed to the work should be listed as authors.

3.

If the submitted abstract outlines experimental work or observations it

MUST include the number of subjects/animals/cadavers on which the findings are based.

4.

It is NOT appropriate to submit findings on a single observation unless it is specifically a case study, in which case the title of the abstract must state that this is the case. The experimental findings or observation should then compare the variation or observation with the

‘normal’ anatomy. Such abstracts will normally be considered for poster presentation only.

5.

Abstracts that are based on work that has already been published or is in press will NOT be accepted. It is the author’s responsibility, not

BACA’s, EACA’s, SAE’s, to check that abstracts presented for a meeting do not contain material that is being presented for “double” publication.

6.

Abstracts which state that the findings will be presented and discussed will NOT be accepted .

7.

The abstract MUST be self-contained, i.e. the reader must be able to understand the outcomes of the study.

8.

Reference to published papers within the abstract is strongly discouraged. If absolutely necessary all references contribute to the word count.

9.

Abstracts that exceed the given word limit will NOT be accepted: authors may be asked to resubmit the abstract which could result in missing the deadline.

10.

Abstracts submitted after the deadline will NOT be accepted.

11.

If the abstract is accepted and the content of the presentation changes between acceptance and presentation it is YOUR responsibility to ensure that the Honorary Secretary has a copy of the revised abstract before the end of the meeting.

12.

Abstracts submitted and accepted but papers/posters not presented will

NOT be published in the journal Clinical Anatomy nor in Surgical and

Radiologic Anatomy .

13.

At this meeting all papers submitted will be considered by the conference abstract review group to decide if the papers are appropriate for oral presentation or whether they should be presented as posters.

Abstracts should be no longer than 250 words (excluding the title, authors and contact details) and follow this guidance and see the example below :

1.

List presenter’s name first - The author surname (family name) first followed by forename.

2.

For second and subsequent authors put their surname before their forename (name), and limit to 5 co-authors and add “et al.” if more.

3.

Confirm that all authors know about the content of the abstract and proposed paper presentation and agree to its presentation.

4.

Give contact address or work address ideally where the work was performed.

5.

Title of the paper in bold.

6.

Then in new paragraph write the abstract.

7.

DO NOT use any text formatting, single line spacing is all that is required.

8.

References to published papers should be avoided.

9.

Junior members of the BACA who present a paper at this meeting may be eligible for a travel fellowship. If you wish to be considered please send your name, date of birth in an email to d.heylings@uea.ac.uk by

3.00 pm (15.00) 3rd of April 2015 and it would be helpful if you also

10.

send a copy of your abstract at the same time.

Young researchers could be considered for a prize. The presenting author should indicate their Date of Birth.
