Objective:
 Students will be able to model and solve one-step equations using
Algebra Tiles.
 Students will be able to model real-world situations and solve algebraic
problems using their knowledge of linear equations.
Do Now: Explain how to use Algebra tiles and provide students with an
example.
Solving one-step equations using Algebra Tiles
 Students will be responsible for manipulating Algebra Tiles to solve basic
one-step and two-step equations.
 They will draw the models and solve the problems
 Periods 3, 4, 5, and 7
Solving Equations using the Multiplication Property of Equality
and the Division Property of Equality - notes - periods 1 and 2
Materials: Bosse' Algebra Tile Sets - one per group, handouts, pencils
