Solving Linear equations
Your Task is to demonstrate what you know about solving linear equations.
You need to explain
 What is a linear equation?
 What does it mean to SOLVE an equation?
 What is GUESS AND CHECK and when should it be used?
 What is BACKTRACKING and when should it be used?
 What is INVERSE OPERATIONS ON BOTH SIDES and when should it be used?
 What is the DISTRIBUTIVE LAW and when should it be used?
Finally provide evidence of your ability to solve linear equations from the most simple ( one
step equations) to the most advanced ( with fractions, brackets and x’s on both sides)

Another site with explanations and examples.
This site has a lot of stuff about algebra. Work on section C solving simple equations
Two versions of an Interactive that helps you understand operations on both sides
