Spice Up Your Life This He-Fever Season
Many men try to ignore the fact that they have hayfever, preferring to just ‘grin and bear it’ rather
than do anything about it. But why suffer in silence when there are some simple things that can be
done to help reduce those annoying ‘he-fever’ symptoms.
The Hayfever Health report has found that nearly half [47%] of men try to ignore their symptoms [1],
which typically include unpleasant itching, red eyes, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, itchy roof of
mouth and ears.
But there are really simple ways to help. Hay fever is a result of our immune system’s overreaction to
pollen. Too much pollen stimulates the bodies’ mast cells, which then break or degranulate,
releasing too many histamines. So you just need to reduce the pollen and/or block the histamines.
Which is easy and can even be enjoyable.
Go for the hottest curry on the menu – or if you’re making your own, go heavy on the spices.
Turmeric, an orange-yellow spice, widely used in curries and South Asian cuisine, is believed to
reduce inflammation caused by the enzyme phospholipase A2, which is provoked into action by
pollen in your system. And make sure there’s lots of onions in too, as they contain quercetin, a
natural anti-histamine, which blocks the effects of histamines. The best type are red onions, as they
have the highest levels.
Secondly, grooming is an important part of he-fever reduction. Pollen can get trapped in your hair,
so washing it daily, particularly in the evening can help. And don’t get changed in the bedroom, as
pollen collects on clothes and will be dispersed into the room when taken off. This will increase
pollen levels in your body when you’re trying to sleep.
Natural pollen barrier balms applied to the base of the nose and around the eyes throughout the
day can trap some pollen before it enters the body, which can be very effective at helping to
prevent and lessen symptoms. The stickier the balm, the more pollen it will trap. Pollen barrier balms,
such as HayMax, have been proven to block over a third of pollen grains in the air before they
enter the body.” [4] It is applied to the base of the nostrils to help stop pollen entering the body. It’s
drug-free and with no drowsy side-effects, it won’t affect you whilst driving or at work.
And last, but not least, sex. At the point of orgasm the sympathetic nervous system constricts blood
vessels across the body and an Iranian neurologist has suggested that this could help with hay
fever. What could be a more pleasant way to deal with hay fever than that? Although there may
be some practical issues around timing and locations!
HayMax™ pollen barrier balm retails at £6.99 for a 5ml pot and is available from www.haymax.biz,

About HayMax™
HayMax™ is an award-winning, 100% organic pollen barrier balm. It is drug-free with no drowsy side
effects, so is suitable for use when driving. The balm comes in a handy pot, so fits easily into a sports
bag, briefcase or pocket.
Hayfever is an allergic reaction to pollen. Each person can tolerate a certain amount of pollen
without reaction. There is a ‘trigger’ level, below which they suffer no effects, but above which an
allergic reaction occurs. HayMax™ is not a cure for hayfever, but by blocking pollen from entering
the body, it helps keep the sufferer hayfever-free for longer. And as long as it keeps the sufferer
below their trigger level, they will have no allergic reaction.
It has gained no less than 10 awards, including a Highly Commended in the Natural Lifestyle
Awards, and the Allergy Friendly Product Award – which shows that products are beneficial for
allergy sufferers based on consumer opinion and approved by AllergyUK.
It is approved by the Vegetarian Society and certified organic by the Soil Association and has been
very positively reviewed by many doctors in the media.
HayMax™ is proud to be Allergy UK’s official corporate hay fever partner for 2012/13.
Many male case studies available.
