PARK CITY NON-PROFITS HONOR VETERANS THIS WEEK THROUGH
EXHIBITIONS & LIVE PERFORMANCE
A COLLABORATIVE EFFORT BETWEEN THE KIMBALL ART CENTER, NATIONAL ABILITY
CENTER AND PARK CITY INSTITUTE HONORS VETERANS
Park City, Utah – October 23, 2013 - This week in Park City two exhibitions and a live
performance will focus on honoring veterans and the sacrifices they have made for the United
States.
The Kimball Art Center’s Garage Gallery will host a deeply moving visual exhibit from renowned
photographer Lynn Blodgett entitled “Soldier Boy. Soldier Girl.” Running through December 1st,
2013. The vividly lit portraits feature two soldiers—one male, one female—dressed in the military
uniforms of every war ever fought by the United States. While the weaponry and clothing change
from image to image, the models remain the same, embodying the constant human element of
warfare. Each photo will be accompanied by various prose and poetry from the era it represents.
In partnership with the National Ability Center, Kimball’s Badami Gallery will also offer an
exhibition featuring the work of veteran artists until November 19th. All veterans are invited to
submit up to two pieces in any medium to be placed on public display or offered for sale.
Both exhibits will be featured during the Kimball Art Center’s Gallery Stroll on October 25 th from 69pm, and at the Special Veterans’ Celebration opening on November 15th from 6-8pm. All events
and exhibitions are free of charge.
Additionally, the Eccles Center will host a performance of “Letters Home” at 7:30pm this
Saturday, October 26th. A theatrical portrait of today’s soldier, this play reveals the entire
spectrum of human emotion through the intense prism of war. The Park City Institute is offering
free admission to veterans and active-duty servicemen as well as their immediate family
members. Tickets for the general public can be purchased online at www.ecclescenter.org or by
calling 435.655.3114.
