Jordan- Establishment of Nuclear-Weapon Free Zone in the Region of the Middle East
The country of Jordan is a key component and has great impact and has had a lot of involvement
in bringing a Nuclear-Weapon Free Zone Region the Middle East. Jordan is actually of the most involved
in the push for an Nuclear-Weapon Free Zone Region in the Middle East. Jordan has repeatedly called
for a peaceful solution to Iranian nuclear aspirations. Iran is one of the major if not the biggest adversary
to not having one since it is the country who has possibly most of the weapons of mass destruction and
are active with nuclear weaponry. Jordan’s solution comes with technical intelligence systems combined
with ready and willing countries like Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, which have extensive networks of
human intelligence operative on the ground.
All the countries in the Middle East will benefit from having and Nuclear-Weapon Free Zone
even for great advisories like Israel and Iran. The Middle East has been and remains one of the most
volatile and most violent regions in the world. It can grow exponentially and potentially become the
most dangerous with the nuclear arms race. Now Israel leadership sticks to refraining from giving in to
this Nuclear-Weapon Free Region since, its understood has 100 to 200 hundred nuclear weapons. Israel
has in the past destroyed nuclear affiliated projects. For example in 1981 it destroyed Iraq’s nuclear
research reactor. Also in 2007 it destroyed a Syrian reactor. Making it up in arms what exactly they
want.
There are a handful of countries that have potential to become nuclear weapon states. Iran has
been and definitely is still, enriching uranium that can be used for nuclear weapons. Other countries that
can be potential threats and that practice nuclear weaponry include Egypt, Syria, and Saudi Arabia. The
U.S.A is a major and key piece in this issue even if they aren’t part of the Middle East. Reason like they
want to not have any nuclear weapons or nuclear practices among the member countries. An example
would be like in 2003 when thy toppled Iraq’s regime on false grounds that it had a nuclear weapons
program. With the U.S.A. it will be easier to achieve this nuclear free region.
In conclusion Nuclear- Weapon Free zones already exist and are successful. These zones cover
the territory of the Southern Hemisphere of the globe. Zones which include Africa, Southeast Asia, South
Pacific and Latin America. If the Middle East can bring forward this great and have it be inferred there
will be more peace in the Middle East and there will be more trust.
