Everything You Need to Know about Our Paid
Student Internships
Do you have a strong network of Jewish friends?
Looking to strengthen your connection with the Jewish community and other Jewish
leaders on campus?
Hillel is looking to hire our next cohort of interns who work to build Jewish life on
campus, throughout the Greater Toronto Area, and on-line! There are a variety of
internships which each have a specific demographic focus but all internships include
the following components:
 Opportunity to develop relationships and connect students to Jewish Life and/or
Israel
 Ongoing professional development and leadership seminars
 One-on-one supervision, guidance and mentorship from a Hillel professional
Here are the specifics of each Internship (in alphabetical order):
Campus Engagement Internship
Number of Interns: Approximately 8
Campuses: All (Major universities and community colleges)
Target Number of Students to meet: 50- Major Universities
25- Community College and Satellite Campuses
Target Number of Initiatives: 3-4
Type of students: Jewish Students (Ideal if you have previous Jewish networks through
camp, Birthright, youth group, or social network)

Through cups of coffee and discovering each students' individual
passions and aspirations, interns create relevant and interesting initiatives based on
Jewish values and ideas. Each intern is charged with building 3-4 small scale initiatives
for the unengaged Jewish students they know and meet to build community among
these students.

Israel Engaged Campus Internship
Number of Interns: 4
Campus: Ryerson
Target number of students to meet: 25
Target number of initiatives: 2
Type of students: Jewish and non-Jewish, must be in student’s faculty/professional
field

Each intern is responsible for educating Jewish and non-Jewish students about what
Israel has done in their own field of study. Each intern is responsible for creating 2
impact projects- one small and one campus-wide, which connect their faculty to Israel.
This internship may also provide summer travel and/or internship opportunities.
Israel Engagement Internship
Number of Interns: Approximately - 8
Campuses: All (Major universities and community colleges)
Target number of students to meet: 40 big campuses, 30 small campuses.
Target Number of Initiatives: 1 club partnership, 1 ongoing initiative, 2 thematic events
Target Students: Jewish and Non-Jewish
The Israel Engagement Internship is part of Hillel’s effort to produce successful Israel
engagement initiatives through student empowerment and professional growth. Int
erns are tasked with engaging their campus peers and connecting them to Israel in
relevant and meaningful ways. By using their interpersonal networks as a vehicle for
outreach, interns are able to impact a broad range of student audiences, both Jewish and
non-Jewish. Israel Engagement Interns are the first informative point of contact during
incidents of anti-Semitic and anti-Israel activity on campuses. The success of the
internship is measured by an increase of positive, non partisan discourse about Israel on
Toronto campuses, and an increased interest in Israel and Israel Engagement and
advocacy by Jewish student leaders.

Israeli ECHO Internship
Number of Interns: 3
Campuses: All
Target number of students to meet: 25
Target number of initiatives: 2
Type of students: Jewish, Israeli

The goal of this internship is to bring Jewish education, tradition, and connectivity to
Israeli communities through new connections and shared values/interests.
This program will also strengthen the leadership skills and Jewish connections of the
interns who will be engaging their un-engaged peers and creating a new generation of
leaders of the Israeli-Jewish community.
Jewski Engagement Internship
Number of Interns: Approximately 5
Campuses: All
Target number of students to meet: 25
Target number of initiatives: 2 (1 per semester)
Type of students: Russian- Jewish (Including Russian-Israeli, Russian- Canadian)

Are you interested in helping grow the Russian-speaking Jewish community of
Toronto? The Jewski Engagement Internship program will give you the tools and skills
needed to engage with your peers and develop your own initiatives which will better
our community. You will hear from various guest speakers on topics such as
leadership, Israel, and community development. Through this program, you will get to
develop your leadership skills, learn about what it takes to plan and effectively execute
events, develop peer networks, as well further develop your own Jewish identity.
Operations Internship*
Number of Interns: 3
Campuses: York University, University of Toronto, Ryerson University

The operations interns will help to ensure smooth operations for Hillel of Greater
Toronto. Responsibilities include: Staffing the reception desk, maintaining records of
and ordering supplies, and data entry. These interns will gain a more “behind-thescenes” look at Hillel of Greater Toronto and are involved in aspects of the organization
that are required for it to function successfully. Operations interns will also attend both
individualized training and training for all student interns.
Qualifications: we are looking for people who are detail oriented, have excellent
communication skills, strong computer skills, and the ability to take initiative and work
independently.

*This is the only position which is not an engagement internship, but rather a purely
operational role.
