Opt-in Summer Schools fund from Department for Education
If you are considering opting-in to the Department for Education Summer School Fund and are thinking
about dedicating some of it to wider enrichment activities such as:
•Arts activities (workshops in all art forms);
•Trips to theatres and concert halls;
•Visits to Museums etc.
please remember that Lewisham Music Hub (led by Lewisham Music Service) and Lewisham Education Arts
Network (LEAN) can both provide free support and advice.
HLF - Our Heritage
Grants of between £10,000 and £100,000
Now open to applications
Funding is available for projects that make a lasting difference for heritage, people and communities in the
UK. The term 'heritage' refers to different things from the past that are valued and should be passed on to
future generations and includes cultural traditions such as stories, festivals, crafts, music, dance and
costumes.
The British Film Institute – Film Fund (UK)
The British Film Institute has announced that its Film Fund is open to applications. Through the fund a total
of £18 million a year is available for filmmakers in the UK who are emerging or world class and capable of
creating distinctive and entertaining work.
BBC Children in Need - Small Grants Programme
Up to £10,000
Deadlines 1 June, 1 September, 1 December
Funding is available to organisations that are supporting children and young people of 18 years and under
who are experiencing disadvantage through:
Illness, distress, abuse or neglect.
Any kind of disability.
Behavioural or psychological difficulties.
Living in poverty or situations of deprivation.
The Fidelio Trust Grants Programme (UK)
Up to £5,000
Deadline 1 June
The Trust offers grants in particular to the dramatic and operatic arts, music, speech and dance. The
Trustees aim to help individuals and groups such as colleges, arts festivals and other arts organisations who
would not be able to carry out a project or activity without financial support.
Austin & Hope Pilkington Trust (UK)
Between £1,000 and £3,000
Deadline 1 June
The Austin and Hope Pilkington Trust which awards grants to charitable organisations in the United Kingdom
has announced the next closing date for applications. During 2013, the Trust is seeking to fund projects that
help children and young people.
Inspiring Women to Start Their Own Business - New Round Opens 3 June

Up to £50,000
The RBS Inspiring Enterprise programme provides grants to non-profit organisations for projects which
inspire women to start their own business.
Elephant Trust
Up to £2,000
Deadline 10 June
The Trust awards grants to artists, small organisations and galleries within the United Kingdom to make it
possible for artists and those presenting their work to undertake and complete projects when frustrated by
lack of funds. Funding priority is given to artists in the visual arts, small organisations and galleries within the
United Kingdom.
Strategic Touring Programme
Projects over £10,000 are eligible for funding. Projects must take place over a maximum of three years.
Deadlines:
•Round 9: 14 June
•Round 10: 9 August
•Round 11: 4 October
•Round 12: 29 November
Grants are available to support collaboration between organisations, to encourage more people across
England to experience and be inspired by the arts. Any individual or organisation can apply to the
programme. Partnerships, networks and consortia can also apply
Wellcome Trust Small Arts Awards (UK)
Up to £30,000
Deadline 28 June
The Wellcome Trust Small Arts Awards provides grants for projects that engage the public with biomedical
science through the arts.
Arts for older people grant programme
Deadline14 August
To help bring the arts to older people in residential care Arts Council England and the Baring Foundation
have jointly set up a £1 million fund. The Arts and older people in care grant, will support older people in
residential care homes to take part in arts activities. The programme aims to support partnerships between
arts organisations and artists with those helping older people in care homes. Proposals are welcomed from
partnerships led by either residential care providers or arts organisations. Museums and libraries can also
apply, provided the activity is arts-focused.
Funding for Schools to Purchase Musical Equipment (UK)
Up to £2000
Deadline 11 September
Schools in the UK that wish to purchase musical instruments and equipment can apply for funding through
the EMI Music Sound Foundation’s Instrument and/or Equipment Awards. The Foundation cannot fund
retrospectively and schools are not eligible for financial assistance under this scheme if they have already
purchased their instruments or if they do so before their application has been approved.
BBC Children in Need Main Grants Programme
Grants of over £10,000 – no upper limit
Deadline 15 September
BBC Children in Need distributes the funds raised each year as grants to organisations that work with
disadvantaged children and young people in the UK. The focus is firmly on children and young people
experiencing disadvantage. They fund organisations working to combat this disadvantage and to make a real
difference to children and young people's lives.
Idlewild Trust
Deadline 20 September
The Idlewild Trust is a grant making trust that supports registered charities concerned with the
encouragement of the performing and fine arts and crafts, the advancement of education within the arts and
the preservation for the benefit of the public of lands, buildings and other objects of beauty or historic interest
in the United Kingdom.
Funding for Youth Music Making Activities (England)
Up to £250,000
Deadline 3 October
Grants are available to support projects that provide music-making activities for children and young people,
especially those young people in challenging circumstances. Youth Music will fund non profit-making
organisations committed to music-making activities for children and young people up to 18 (or up to 25 if
they have special educational needs, disabilities or are in detention).
Disabled People's User-Led Organisations (DPULO) Programme- Facilitation Fund
Up to £30,000 - no minimum
The Disabled People's User-Led Organisations (DPULO) Facilitation Fund’s aim is to provide financial
support to DPULOs that they otherwise could not easily secure.
The Mackintosh Foundation
Up to £10,000
For registered charities doing educational arts projects with children. Applications for projects within the
fields of Theatre and the Arts or Children and Education will be considered.
Co-operative Membership Community Fund
Grants between £100 and £2,000
The Fund provides grants to voluntary groups, community groups and local charities throughout the UK.
Paul Hamlyn Foundation Arts Programme
The Foundation is currently accepting applications under its Arts Open Grants Programme from formally
constituted groups.
Wakeham Trust
Grants between £75 to £750
Groups of individuals as well as small community and voluntary groups within the UK that want to improve
their communities can apply for funding through The Trust. They are particularly interested in supporting
community arts projects as well as other neighbourhood and community projects. Applications can be made
at any time.
The Steel Charitable Trust Grants
Grants of between £1,000 and £25,000
Applications can be made at any time.
The Steel Charitable Trust is a grant-making trust supporting general charitable purposes. Grants are made
to registered charities in the UK within the areas of arts and culture.
Garfield Weston Foundation
The Garfield Weston Foundation makes around 1,500 one-off grants per year across the UK.
Its priority areas include the arts, community, education, welfare, medical, youth, religion and environment.
Investment and contract readiness fund
The £10m three year Investment and Contract Readiness Fund on behalf of the Office for Civil Society is
open. The Fund will support social ventures to build their capacity to be able to receive investment and bid
for public service contracts.
Foyle Foundation Small Grants Programme
Small charities operating in the areas of the arts and learning that have an annual turnover of less than
£100,000 per annum can apply for funding of between £1,000 and £10,000 through the Foyle Foundation’s
Small Grants Programme.
Esmee Fairbairn Foundation Arts Strand

Arts interests are:
 Sustaining the viability of the arts sector through multi-year funding
 Smaller grants to support organisations or projects which are testing out new ways of working
 Providing funds to specialist infrastructure organisations to pass on to organisations
 The development of emerging artists, emerging practice and new and more sustainable business

Digital R&D Fund for the Arts (England)
Up to £125,000
Rolling basis until 30 December 2013
NESTA, the UK’s Innovation Foundation, has announced the launch of a new £7 million Digital R&D Fund for
the Arts. Grants are for collaborative partnerships between arts organisations, technology providers and
researchers.
Theatre Protection Fund Small Grants Scheme (UK)
Up to £5,000
Applications can be made at any time
The Theatres Trust, which works with commercial, public and voluntary sectors to secure a sustainable
future for theatre buildings, has announced that it is now accepting applications through its Theatre
Protection Fund Small Grants Scheme.
Chapman Charitable Trust
The majority of grants are of either £1,000 or £2,000. A few special projects receive £6,000.
Deadline continuous rolling programme
The Trust supports charities in the areas of social services, culture and recreation, education and research,
health, environment and heritage.
London Community Foundation
The Foundation have host of grant opportunities for voluntary and community sector groups in Lewisham.

Social Media Fundraising Online Accredited Course
3 to 7 June
This six hour flexible course shows organisations how to create successful online fundraising campaigns,
using Facebook, Twitter, Google + and crowd funding platforms.

Clore Social Leadership Programme (UK)
The Clore Duffield Foundation has announced that its Social Leadership Programme is open for
applications. Bursaries of up to £20,000 are available to help train and develop a new generation of leaders
for the third sector in the UK. Each year the programme assists Clore Fellows to undertake an individual
programme of learning, work, research and training, and designed to develop their leadership skills and
experience.
Google Launch Learning Hub for UK Charities
Google has launched a free initiative that intends to help 30,000 small and medium-sized charities enhance
their fundraising capabilities by improving their digital abilities.
The Charity Commission, the regulator for charities in England and Wales has launched a new tool to help
charities find umbrella and infrastructure bodies offering tailored advice and support.
£500,000 "Grow your tenner" Localgiving.com campaign
The London Community Foundation announce an exciting new initiative from their online fundraising partner,
Localgiving.com. Local charities and community organisations across England are being offered the
opportunity to participate in its £500,000 "Grow Your Tenner" campaign.
Big Society Capital
A new financial institution set up by the UK government to finance charities and community groups has been
launched. Big Society Capital will have £600million, of which the majority comes from unused cash in bank
accounts that had been dormant for more than 15 years. The fund will back social enterprises that prove
they can repay an investment through the income they generate.
Think Big
In partnership with the National Youth Agency and UK Youth, O2 has launched its Think Big social action
programme to support young people in the UK. It’s designed to empower young people (aged between 13
and 25) who want to make positive changes to their communities.
Sign up to Localgiving.com and promote your charity to new donors
Localgiving.com is a new website for charities and community groups. It is specifically designed to support
small, local charities by providing easy-to-use online marketing and donation tools that help to promote
