 Dictionary projects:
A dictionary is perhaps the first and most powerful reference tool that a child should own. It is a
companion for solving the problems that arise as a child develops his or her reading, writing and
creative thinking abilities.
On one page write the first letter of your name. Find out at least 10 words from that letter. Cut
out and glue the words new to you from the newspaper. Note the following things:
 It cannot be a person’s name and place unless you are sure it can be found either in
dictionary or an encyclopedia.
 Continue looking for new words. Letters j, k, q, u, v, w, x, y, z are hard to find.
 You may pick a word from the dictionary to use if you cannot find one in the paper.
 Once you have all the words, check to make sure you didn’t cut out words you already
know.
 Once this is completed, you have to find the meaning of each word and write it.
 Use only A4 size sheets.
 Once these words are ready, bind them into a little book.
