Residency In Veterinary Ophthalmology at South Devon Referrals, United Kingdom.

South Devon Referrals is inviting applications from qualified veterinary surgeons for a three-year ophthalmology residency training program. This program will begin April 1st 2014 with the primary aim of training a Veterinary Ophthalmologist and preparing them for the European College of

Veterinary Ophthalmology (ECVO) qualifying examination. This residency program has been approved by the ECVO.

South Devon Referrals is situated just outside Exeter in South Devon, close to the coast and

Dartmoor. The practice is housed in new purpose-built facilities and sees a wide range of small animal, exotic and equine patients suitable for case exposure to fulfil the ECVO requirements. The successful candidate would be expected to take responsibility for inpatients, a clinical caseload

(medical and surgical cases) and a proportion of on call.

Applicants must

Be a member of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, or eligible for membership.

Hold a UK recognised veterinary qualification.

Have clinical experience as a first opinion veterinary surgeon.

Have a good command of the English language is imperative to be able to function in clinical situations and interact with staff members and clients.

Two letters of recommendation from senior colleagues, university staff or practitioners who worked directly with the candidate. The letter should detail previous clinical responsibilities, aptitude and performance in clinical situations, ability to communicate and work with others and aptitude in examination. The letter should be sent directly to South Devon Referrals by the letter writer, and should not be forwarded by the applicant.
