March 12, 2015 Two New RICOH FL Series FA Lenses Extending the existing lens line-up to be compatible with one-inch format cameras up to nine megapixels Ricoh Industrial Solutions Inc. (President and CEO: Katsunori Nakata) will be introducing two new lenses with focal lengths of 25mm and 35mm to complement the current RICOH FL Series Lenses (with 50mm and 75mm focal lengths) that are compatible with 1” format cameras with up to nine megapixel resolution that were released in November 2014. The new lenses, with their wide angle of view, will demonstrate their excellent performance with a wide range of subjects, including visual and foreign substance inspections on everything from precision machined items to containers. As with the 50mm and 75mm focal length lenses previously introduced, these new lenses feature a φ42mm compact design, despite their nine megapixel high resolution. Additionally, the troublesome lens distortions that normally occur during image measurement and recognition have been significantly reduced to less than 0.1% (TV distortion value) with the technology employed by the new lenses. Lenses up to two megapixels are currently dominant in the FA camera market. However, the market for high resolution nine megapixel class lenses is expected to grow. By tackling this trend early in the development cycle, RICOH is able to create a line-up of lenses that can respond to the diverse needs of our customers. In the future, Ricoh Industrial Solutions Inc. will continue striving to further expand sales in the FA lens market. <Key Features of the Two New RICOH FL Series FA Lenses> 1. High resolution and high contrast at 9 megapixels These lenses are compatible with 3.69μm pixel pitch, 1” format industrial cameras with resolution of up to 9 megapixels. From the center to the periphery, the lenses have a high resolution of 135 lp/mm. Due to minimal degradation of resolution right up to the periphery they produce sharp, high contrast images. Therefore, even images on the periphery are suitable for measurement and inspection. Their focusing uses a floating mechanism design which reduces aberrations from an infinite to close working distance. 2. φ42mm compact design To suit 44 mm housings used for most 9 megapixel cameras, these lenses have a 42 mm compact design ideal for installation with high performance equipment. 3. Low distortion Troublesome lens distortions for image measurement and recognition have been reduced. TV distortion is reduced to less than 0.1%, with very little image distortion, making the lenses ideal for image measurement. <Main Specifications> Model Min.
