Transportation:
Charter bus to leave Mandeville High on Thursday 2/18/16
at 3:15pm and return from Baton Rouge on Saturday 2/20/16
by 2:00pm to MHS
Schedule/Food/Dress:
Bring your own snacks non-perishable, ziplocks and drinks ($1.50- $2.00 at the vending machines)
- Thursday
 bring your bags to Decker’s room before school
 SNACK/DINNER: Pizza (provided by Youth and Government) and load the bus after school in Ms. Decker’s room
 Departing at 3:15
 Check in at hotel (Marina to distribute room keys and badges) and change in your room for the opening ceremonies
(professional attire/suit)
 Check-in with Marina at the elevators and attend opening ceremonies
 Return to room by 11:45 pm with a midnight curfew
 MIDNIGHT PIZZA optional and you can split the cost with your room mates. Money due on the bus ride ($10 for a large
pepperoni, cheese or sausage)
 Bed checks at curfew
- Friday
 Wake-up call by 6:30am – breakfast in room and on your own
 Check-in with Marina at the elevators, receive your lunch ticket and put it in your badge; load the YMCA buses to go to
the State Capitol 8 am (professional attire/suit)
 LUNCH: pre-ordered boxed lunch (money due on the Thursday bus ride ($10.00). What to pack: Condensed Version
 Board YMCA buses to go back to hotel and in the rooms to change at about 5:30
DRESS:
 At 6:30 check-in with Marina at the elevators and head down to banquet
3 instances of professional attire/suit
 DINNER: Banquet (formal attire and/or suit) – dinner provided by YMCA
2 instances of casual attire
 Elections and Dance (casual)
 MIDNIGHT PIZZA optional and money due before lunch ($10.00)
FOOD: bring your own drinks, snacks
 Bed checks at curfew

 11:30 to 12:00pm – Retrieve luggage from Marina’s room and head downstairs to load and board the bus with Rose and
Thorn
 LUNCH – on your own when you return
General Rules
- Clothes
 No short, tight or see-through clothing
 Suits should be worn with dress shoes
 Boys must where a tie
 No tanks or strappy tops – bring a sweater
-Illegal items
 No prescription drugs unless approved by Marina
 No succulent fruits
 No alcohol, drugs, chewing tobacco, e-cigarettes, R
rated movies or video games rated mature
Luggage
 only bring what you can carry (medium sized bag and one carry-on bag)
 All items will be checked
 All bottles with liquids need to be bagged together in one section of your suitcase.
Code of Conduct
 No boys in girls rooms and vice versa
 In the rooms, do not leave to go downstairs unless
you check with Marina
 Curfew is strictly enforced
 You must sleep in the room assigned




FIELD TRIP PERMISSION FORM
My child __________________________ has my permission to attend a field trip to Louisiana
YMCA sponsored Louisiana Youth Legislature Conference on February 18, 2016 to February 20, 2016
in Baton Rouge.
I understand:
 He/she will be riding in a vehicle with an adult or on a school or chartered bus.
 Students will be leaving after school at 3:15pm on Thursday and returning to the school at
2:00pm on Saturday.
 All school rules as stated in the handbook (dress, wearing ID, behavior, language, tobacco,
etc.) will be in effect as well as the school consequences.
 Students will be required to comply with the General Rules in the MHS/LA YMCA 2016 Youth
Legislature Schedule and Rules and the YMCA Code of Conduct.
 If a student fails to comply with any of the rules of behavior, upon contact, the parent must
come and retrieve their child.
 Appropriate attire is required at the conference (professional attire including suits, tie and
dress pants and shoes for boys and professional dress, skirt or pants and shoes for girls).
 Each student must turn in this completed (1) Field Trip Permission Form, (2) YMCA Code of
Conduct and payment in the amount of (3) $235.00 made payable to MHS by Tuesday January
12, 2016 to attend the conference.
 I also understand that the YMCA will not refund the money in any case of cancellation or
inability to attend the conference for any reason
 Cost Breakdown - $235.00 includes the following:
o YMCA - $195.00 (hotel room for 2 nights and 3 days, conference materials, conference
fees, buses to and from the State Capital, Friday night banquet and dance)
o MHS - $40.00 (pizza Thursday after school, charter bus transportation to and from Baton
Rouge, and sponsor room)
 Students should bring additional money for food (vending machines, pizza, and lunch on
Friday). See the MHS/LA YMCA 2015 Youth Legislature for details.

Rules.

I understand that conference delegates are housed four (4) to each room and that in order to participate
in this program, I must share a room and bed with at least one other student of the same sex from my
delegation. I further understand that I may not room with anyone other than YMCA conference delegates
– not an advisor, parents, or other relatives. I also understand that I may not room alone.
I understand that I will be expelled from all future Youth & Government activities if I have drugs or
alcohol at the conference.
I understand that all fees are non-refundable.
I have read, reviewed with my advisor and understand the Code of Conduct required to attend Youth &
Government activities.
EMERGENCY CARE & TRANSPORTATION PERMISSION – The YMCA of the Capital Area does not provide
accident or medical insurance for program participants. I recognize that participation in YMCA sponsored
activities may expose my child to risk of injury. I agree to hold the YMCA and the school system offering
the program if applicable) harmless from any claims that may occur through participation in any activity
at the YMCA, or in its programs. In cases of emergency or accident and I am unable to be contacted, I
hereby grant the YMCA director or his/her agent to secure proper medical treatment and transportation
for my child to an appropriate facility for treatment.
MEDIA PROMOTINAL MATERIALS – In further consideration of my child being allowed to participate in YMCA
activities, I hereby grant permission for my child’s name, voice, picture and basic personal information to
appear on television as a participant in YMCA activities.
