Perth City Farm Growing Gardens Project Design Competition Further information Since its inception in 1992 PCF has benefited from the support of numerous volunteers, committed staff and committee members. In 2001, PCF received the State 3Rs Community Award from the Department for Environmental Protection for its Innovative School Talks and Recycling Program. City of Perth has granted Perth City Farm $10,000 to build the ‘Growing Gardens Project’. The project will showcase Perth's first organically supplied green wall, as well as a cutting edge aeroponic system which requires 90% less water than a traditional aquaponic system. All controls, pumps and sensors for the aeroponic system and the green wall will be donated by Mania Botania, a division of Hose Mania partnering with PCF on this aspect of the project. The automated aspect of these gardens also makes them easy to operate. Growing Gardens possess a strong education and awareness raising component. Through its steady flow of public traffic and strong community partnerships. PCF aim to educate the public by providing informative displays, resources, and workshops. Growing Gardens are a much needed learning tool to promote sustainable living, organic gardening, and environmental practices, benefitting the city of Perth in numerous ways.
