Role of the School Psychologist by Tier Step Step 1 - Benchmark Step 2 – Tier I Step 3 – Data Chat Step 4 – Tier II Procedures Step 5 – Referral to Tier III Step 6 – Tier III Procedures Suggested Activities for Psychologist: N/A Request general schedule of lesson play checks and observations from administrator Request to be part of data chat. Participate by helping to locate scores, encourage team to look at all pieces of data and assist in analyzing data. At first data meeting (4.5 -5 weeks): 1. Complete Exclusionary Factors worksheet with grade level team members. 2. Complete a data review fidelity check at the data chat (RTI Fidelity Record). Record student ROI on this document. 3. Check to ensure administrator has documented 1 fidelity direct observation showing implementation at 80% or higher 4. Remind team to consider intervention change if poor/questionable progress after 4.5 weeks At second data meeting (9-10 weeks): 1. Complete a data review fidelity check at the data chat (RTI Fidelity Record). Record student ROI on this document. 2. Check to ensure administrator has documented 1 fidelity direct observation showing implementation at 80% or higher. 3. Help team analyze progress and make data-based decision. If progress is questionable, continue intervention at this tier, but change intervention. If progress is good, exit from Tier II. If progress is poor after 10 weeks, refer to Tier III. 1. Conduct Gap Analysis and record on RTI Fidelity Record 2. Ensure at least one change in intervention occurred at Tier II 3. Check for 3 fidelity checks (2 direct and 1 data review) At first / third data meeting (4.5 -5 / 10 weeks): 1. Complete Exclusionary Factors worksheet with grade level team members, if student was direct Tier III placement. 2. Complete a data review fidelity check at the data chat (RTI Fidelity Record). Record student ROI on this document. 3. Check to ensure administrator has documented 1-2 fidelity direct observations showing implementation at 80% or higher. 4. Remind team to consider intervention change if poor/questionable progress after 4.5 / 15 weeks At second / fourth data meeting (9-10 / 20 weeks): 1. Complete a data review fidelity check at the data chat (RTI Fidelity Record). Record student ROI on this document. 2. Check to ensure administrator has documented 1-2 fidelity direct observations (to total 3 direct observations) showing implementation at 80% or higher 3. Help team analyze progress and make data-based decision. If progress is questionable, continue intervention at this tier, but change intervention. If progress is good, exit from Tier II. If progress is poor after 10 weeks, refer to Tier III. Step 7 – Referral for SPED Services Step 8 – SPED Evaluation 1. Ensure you have a minimum of 8 fidelity checks (5 directs, 3 data reviews) 2. Ensure you have ROI and Gap for each tier 1. Have team complete Student Support and Interventions Team Referral packet 2. Send home consent, background/social history 3. Have teacher complete General Education Teacher Input Form 4. Complete one systematic observation during Tier intervention 5. Request SPED teacher complete one systematic observation during Tier I instruction in area of deficit 6. Administer achievement test in area of deficit 7. Write SLD report and complete ER and PWN at meeting Intervention Tracking Sheet / Psychologist Completed During Tier I Have access to Lesson Plan / Observation Schedule Completed During Tier II Exclusionary Factors Worksheet CMCSS RTI Record Completed / Intervention Plan developed (discuss intervention, PM schedule, PM type) Evidence that RTI process was discussed with the parent (parent contact log on RTI Record) Fidelity Check / Observation #1 (needs to show 80% or greater implementation) Progress Monitoring Data (10-15 weekly or 8-10 EOW) for ROI – w/graph and notification to parents every 4.5 weeks Data Review (FC) ROI Fidelity Check / Observation #2 (needs to show 80% or greater implementation) At least one change in intervention Completed During Tier III Exclusionary Factors Worksheet, if not already completed CMCSS RTI Record Completed / Intervention Plan developed (discuss intervention, PM schedule, PM type) Evidence that RTI process was discussed with the parent (parent contact log on RTI Record) Fidelity Check / Observation #1/3 (needs to show 80% or greater implementation) Progress Monitoring Data (10-15 weekly) for ROI – w/graph and notification to parents every 4.5 weeks Data Review (FC) ROI Fidelity Check / Observation #2/4 (needs to show 80% or greater implementation) Data Review (FC) ROI Fidelity Check / Observation #3/5 (needs to show 80% or greater implementation) At least one change in intervention Gap Analysis Completed if Team Decides to Refer for SPED Consideration Student Support Team Referral completed by team Consent and Social/Background History sent to parent General Education Teacher Input form Complete systematic observation during intervention Request SPED teacher complete systematic observation during Tier I instruction in deficit area Administer achievement test in area of deficit Calculate gap (should have from Tier III, but need most current documented in eval) Write SLD Report Hold meeting and complete ER and PWN; possibly IEP
