Role Description and Purpose:
Wheelabrator Plus is the industry leader in aftermarket services for surface preparation technology
and we are currently seeking a motivated and experienced professional for the position of Area Sales
Manager.
The Area Sales Manager will have specific responsibility for the wheel shot blast machine spares and
service line of business within a nominated area. The candidate will be responsible for promoting our
range of Wheelabrator technology, equipment modernisation and service to achieve sales growth.
The position is varied, interesting and challenging and applicants should have a good understanding
and knowledge of the UK manufacturing industry and the various sectors contained within it.
Experience of mechanical surface preparation techniques and processes or specific experience of
wheel shot blast technology would be a distinct advantage. However, experienced candidates with a
proven track record in sales within the UK Manufacturing industry will also be considered, as full
product training will be provided.
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate an ability to professionally communicate with our
customers, accurately report technical detail, maintain project plans and application data and work in
an organised manner such that tight deadlines and targets may be achieved.
The individual required will therefore need to be a strong self-motivated and disciplined character able
to work systematically and calmly whilst under pressure and possess a keen ambition to succeed in a
competitive market place.
Candidates will need to be computer literate and will possess a recognised mechanical engineering
qualification.

Key Duties:














To represent the company in a totally professional, business like, efficient and acceptable manner
at all times.
To plan the sales area and grow business by building customer relationships and by promoting
the range of Wheelabrator Plus products and services to both established and new customers.
To maintain and grow the sales of original Wheelabrator spares and technology.
To maintain and grow the sales of spares for non-Wheelabrator equipment (ASTRAL Spares)
To maintain and grow the sales of service contracts for Wheel blast equipment.
To identify and pursue sales targets for EMP (Equipment Modernisation Programme)
To actively pursue and convert “competitor” target accounts.
To interact and liaise with internal technical sales and service departments.
To provide advance weekly call and activity plans together with resultant weekly summary reports.
To provide a detailed monthly report and other business and forecast reports as required by
management.
To promote the entire Wheelabrator Group range of products and pass appropriate information
and “sales leads” to other colleagues.
Assist marketing function for editorials, sales success stories etc.
To work within the established procedures in conjunction with a proactively driven Customer
Relationship Management system and ERP system.
To be a key member of the Wheelabrator Plus team, capable of accurate technical
communication, commercial negotiation and proactive sales effort working within a very
competitive environment.
Occasional Duties:



To attend trade exhibitions, seminars, special promotions, product and / or sales training and any
other business related functions, some of which may occasionally be organised outside normal
operational hours and at weekends.
To accompany customers on business related sales promotion trips to other Wheelabrator Group,
supplier and customer sites throughout Europe.
Any other reasonable duties associated with the Company.
Qualification/ Education:



Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship or qualifications
Good standard of education
Current full driving licence
