Oct 1st was the official practice to prepare for the Oct. 29-30 classic. Working with the team on correcting issues and staying sharp and on November 30th at 8pm, the team will play the Missouri Predators Alumni team and it usually calls a good crowd. The team has 9 players now, 6 graduated and 1 did not return. There are 3 potential new recruits and a student has been working with the team and helping out. There are up to 14 spots available for new recruits. Wheelchair Basketball Camp went well in summer with 30 kids and we received some great comments. Progress on HVAC issue in Aquatics area – Chris Seris The air quality issue in the aquatic area has not always been an issue. The Aquatic Center would host a large meet and would have very poor air quality and the next event would be fine. Any facilities that host large meets have similar issues. Chloramines build up and hang in the air. UV disinfection system in the pools and work well but concerned that the air flow across the water isn't working well. The facility staff would check into the issue and not find anything. Trying to pinpoint what was going on was difficult. Underwent a process where campus facilities went through the whole system and met with Hastings + Chivetta. They went through all 5, and a very thorough test and found a large list of things that were not right including corrosion and deterioration. Preventative maintenance is the key to keeping this system up to date and working correctly. McClure engineering will be coming in to fix the system. Dectron board reads how the HVAC system is running and functioning and our staff can now understand it better. Feedback on Brewer Statue –Diane Dahlmann & Jerry Hitzhusen Positive feedback from Mike Alden on the statue. Spoke with the Alumni Director and their department was in great favor of having this statue happen. Future meeting on next steps of the project is happening soon. The current statue used for Homecoming is displayed in the Jungle Lobby for all to see. Other building decorations for Homecoming were all well received and drew a lot of attention. Follow up on Ability Week – Jerry Hitzhusen Ability week was successful and had a significant jump in participation in the attendance/participation in the events, including the wheelchair event and demonstrations. The seminars were well received and Marlee Matlin spoke at Jesse Hall and it was a great turn out with over 1000 people that attended. It is good to see the college supporting this and we are looking at other ideas for next year. We can tailor sessions to apply to each college. The ADA project is going on out off of Rock Bridge Great Plains Technical Center.
