We invite your participation in the 4th Annual Kansas Hunger Dialogue, February 26, 2014 in Wichita, Kansas. The dialogue will place an emphasis on use of modern technology to engage communities and bring together individuals from across the state to build awareness, advocacy, and action about Hunger through the sharing of research, best practices, and model programs. Through this call, we encourage submission of panel proposals and workshops that emphasize the conference theme. Specifically, four emphasis areas within the summit theme have been identified: 1) Developing campus initiatives 2) Policy & activism 3) Successful academic-practice partnerships 4) Community engagement through modern technologies SUMMIT OBJECTIVES Josh Mosier Executive Director Kansas Campus Compact Dr. Jackie Vietti President Emeritus Butler Community College The Kansas Hunger Dialogue will create a learning environment where intellectual discovery and social responsibility converge in pursuit of a world that enhances human health and well-being for present and future generations. CONFERENCE AUDIENCE Conference attendees will include learners and educators from diverse constituencies: faculty, students, administrators, government officials, and representatives of community agencies and partners interested in eradicating hunger locally, nationally, and globally. CONCURRENT SESSION GUIDELINES A variety of proposal types are encouraged for the summit, including panel presentations, workshops. Concurrent sessions will be one hour and 15 minutes in length. Presentation proposals: Presentation proposals can be for individual presentations, full panels, or workshops. Submissions should contain the completed conference proposal form For individual and panel proposals: a. b. c. d. a title for the panel a 300 word summary of the substance of the panel name(s), address(es), position(s)/title(s), institutional affiliation(s) (if appropriate), email address(es), contact phone number(s) for presenters the conference theme emphasis area to which you are submitting For workshops: Workshops are one hour and 15 minutes in length (longer workshops may be accommodated based on their compelling contribution to the dialogue and as they fit into the time schedule). Workshops should result in a concrete product that participants take away with them.
