recounting what happened at the wedding using

Paris. Use role play to study the characters in
depth, considering how they might react and what

Children read and analyse a selection of short
stories from Tales of the Unexpected by Roald Dahl.
They explore the structure of short stories and
dialogue. They then draft and write a mystery/
narrative based on a picture of a ‘spooky’ staircase!

Investigate and dissect the Genre of a Biography.
Children use the text to write a short biography of
Homer using the revision of nouns and pronouns to
support them. Check for sense and missing words.

Identify features of persuasive texts and discuss
differences between facts and opinions. Find out
how to present opinions as if they were facts. Study
formal and informal speech and use of modal
verbs. Children write and edit their own persuasive
speech from Agamemnon to the Kings of Greece,
hoping to persuade the Greeks to support him in
his battle with Troy.
Block 6 Character Study (Fiction)

To write a character study. ‘Hot seating’ Odysseus
so the class can delve into his character
